The Prompt: Week 4

Welcome to Week 4 of The Prompt!

First of all, a huge thank you to everyone who linked up for Week 3. I was absolutely thrilled to see so many people join in again.

I really enjoyed reading every post. The range of approaches was great, and the prompt inspired some very thoughtful, and funny, posts this week. I hope you all found the time to read them.

The idea of The Prompt is to focus on the writing (not that images are banned, but they should not be central!). It is an opportunity to flex our writing muscles a little. Perhaps try something a little different, leave our comfort zone.

To take a ‘prompt’ and write something: a few lines, a few paragraphs, an essay, an anecdote, a story, a poem, a comic strip; anything! For me it’s all about communicating and enjoying the power, inspiration, humour and wonder of words.

The prompt may take the form of a word, a topic, a headline, a quote, an emotion or a scenario…

The Prompt for this week is a headline and it is:

‘Lengthen school days and cut holidays, says former Tory adviser’ The Guardian (online) 29 Jan 2014

I hope that you are inspired and that you will come back on Friday to link up your post!

You can learn more about The Prompt here.

Each Sunday I will publish The Prompt for that week. The linky will then open the following Friday morning and will stay open until the Thursday after, allowing plenty of time to be inspired and link up!

  1. Fab idea, Sara. I like a linky that’s word-led rather than picture-led, because that’s what my blog is. Sadly I can’t join this week as I work in a politically restricted post, so have to be careful about commenting on anything political. Not for much longer though!

    1. Thank you Sarah, I hoped you might like the idea :) Completely understand about this one, but I’ll prod you when I publish the next Prompt!

  2. I hope I can join in this week (please no more snow days!) I was disappointed not to be able to join in the last one as am still on catch up mode after a nightmare January.
