Summer vacation is full on. Constant activity and noise, and all three children. Together. All the time.
Any time spent with just one child is a bonus. One on one time is important, and very hard to engineer over the summer, so I grab any opportunity.
While my eldest was away at residential camp, the younger two went to Lego Camp.
Lego Camp was awesome! Both kids enjoyed it immensely and my daughter can’t wait for next year when she gets to go for the full day. But, this year she could only do half days, which left us with three hours each day to spend together.
We had lunch, went swimming, chilled out in the garden and went to the park.
We’re lucky to have lots of fabulous parks around us, and when the weather is good, heading up to the park at Lake Quannapowitt is a must.
We enjoyed a lovely hour playing and enjoying the sunshine. The park was so quiet, it felt like we had the place to ourselves.
It’s such a beautiful setting, and being able to sit back and enjoy watching my daughter play with the bonus of an amazing view is a rather lovely way to spend time.
I’m going to miss our time, just the two of us, once she starts Kindergarten next week, so I’ll take any opportunity for moments like this one.

Having fun with my children over summer vacation is my absolute priority. The blog comes very much second (or fifth, or fiftieth) on my list. BUT, last summer I missed keeping a photo journal of our activities. It’s such a wonderful thing to look back on, and it is the reason I started writing this blog in the first place. These ‘Snapshots’ posts are a way for me to record the moments, but not feel obliged to write War and Peace. Capture the days as they happen. No SEO, no pinnable images, no stress. Just keeping those moments from running away.

I don’t know how the summer has passed so quickly here and it sounds similar for you. You will look back fondly on these last afternoons together before the new term, they are precious times and it looks like you have made the most of them. That park looks gorgeous and so empty in the sunshine.
Thank you for sharing with me on #CountryKids

Love that quote, never heard it before, but very true! I’m a big believer of snapshots – I don’t like videos. I prefer photos over all sorts of memory making tools.
these photos are so beautiful and your parks have the most stunning scenery! I also love the sound of lego camp.
Yes, taking advantage of every little time you can spend with them is very important, they grow up so fast and the next thing you know they are gone for college and boom, you are left with only the good memories :)
Lego camp! That sounds brilliant haha. Looks lovely where you are, definitely somewhere to enjoy the outdoors!
I’m really looking forward to woodland walks this autumn and seeing the change in colours :)
The park looks lovely and looks like was loads of fun.
I agree that it is important to spend quality time with each child especially when you have more than one xx
