My children, so special, so loved.
I see my reflection in each of you.
I see my habits, my mannerisms;
I see my quirks and expressions.
I see my good; and my bad.
I see myself reflected by you.
My beautiful big boy, so grown up.
I see my cautiousness and care;
I see my thoughtfulness and worry.
I see my clumsiness!
We share books and films.
We share happiness in quiet, in calm,
We share a temper, we are quick to snap.
We share an approach, a love for simple.
I see your fathers face, I hear his voice.
But, you are my reflection.
My little man, so full of life.
I see my smile and hear my laugh.
I see my love for art.
I see my daydreaming distraction!
I see your fathers enthusiasm.
I see your fathers endless curiosity.
You share questions and thoughts.
You share an approach, a logic to find solutions.
You share a love of the mechanics of things.
I see my face, I hear my voice.
But, you are your fathers reflection.
My gorgeous girl, such character!
You are still unformed, still learning.
I see my nature, my love of people.
I see me on a good day, assured and fun.
I see my stubbornness!
I see an extrovert, a diva.
I see your fathers easy confidence.
I see your fathers humour and his charm.
I see your brothers, I see their smiles, I hear their laughter.
But, you reflect yourself.
It has been a wonderful journey so far; motherhood. It has taught me a great deal. And, while our children are not us, and should never be made into our image: they are unique, special and of themselves; they reflect our good and bad qualities back at us. They hold up a mirror to us. As much as they are of themselves, they are also of us.
