I’ve been reading Siblings posts for the last year, wishing that I was joining in. But, I’m one for starting things at the beginning, not jumping in mid-way, so I have been waiting for January to roll around again to start…
I take a lot of photos of the kids; mainly of the wee girl as she is home with me. But, capturing their interactions, especially the joy they share; the smiles and giggles, the love and care, the kindness and sharing; can be tricky. Getting all three in front of the camera is like herding cats, each time I think I’ve cracked it, one will escape. In my mind, I have few photos of the three together.
But, before I embarked on my first month of Siblings, I looked back at my first year of Project 365 and I was surprised. Even in that paired down selection of the, literally thousands of, photographs that I took last year there were glimpses of my children playing together, sharing and helping each other.
So, as I begin my first year of Siblings, I am cheating slightly and starting with a look back at my three during 2014.
January has been a bit chaotic so far, and wasn’t helped by me coming down with flu last week. In the end I had an emergency Siblings photo shoot last night after bath time… For those of you, who I hope to meet over the coming months of this linky, but don’t yet know my three, let me introduce them!
We have the 8yo: rapidly heading towards tweendom with the emerging attitude to match; considerate, thoughtful, bright and cheeky, and a wonderful big brother.
The 5yo: our little superstar enjoying his first year at school; kind, clever, funny and sharp as a tack, he may be the middle child, but he adores his big brother and little sister.
The wee girl: 2y10mo and a diva in the making; hilarious, entertaining, confident and pushing those boundaries all over the place, but she loves her boys.
The three may bicker and fight, like all siblings do, but they have a bond that is beautiful to watch and makes me very proud. These photos are so typical of them; they never fail to make each other laugh.
With life very much getting in the way recently, I feel I have lost focus of the main reason I started this blog: my beautiful children. Charting their sibling relationships as they develop over the year puts the focus firmly back where it should be; on them.
In all their annoying, gorgeous, frustrating, hilarious, challenging, fascinating glory.

I’m like that with projects, too, feel I have to start at the beginning! Lovely look back, and those shots are so full of life, cheekiness and fun. Just gorgeous x
Thank you Jocelyn, they are definitely cheeky!
P looks so much like his dad in that last series! Funny how it jumps out sometimes.
He does, doesn’t he, he really is a mini-M :)
Aww they’re so much fun together – they look like butter wouldn’t melt in their mouths but post bath time giggles will do that to you! And Welcome to Siblings – it’s such a fun project and so lovely to look back on and see the very gradual changes month on month
Thank you, and butter would most definitely melt :) Looking forward to this project very much x

Hello Sara!
I’m a Scottish mummy and my name is Sara too! Yet sadly I live next to the beach on the Scottish Coast and not in Boston. We had a bit of snow but it’s passed now.
Anyway, your kids are a bunch of cuties!
Thank you! Lovely to meet another Scottish Sara :)
Love the photos looking back over 2014 and this month’s photos are just gorgeous – your three look like they have so much fun together and the bond between them really comes across in the pictures. Beautiful :-)
Thank you Louise, they really do have fun (when not bickering!) :)
What gorgeous photos, it looks like they have so much fun together – even if they do bicker sometimes!
Thank you Tami x
Such joyful photos! I have lots of pictures of groups of 2 or sometimes 3 of my kids. I would have to pay them to get all 4 in the same shot!! x #whatsthestory

Oh this is so lovely. I love the collection of photos from last year and your new ones for January; what a gorgeous little threesome. I would be exactly the same and need to join in at the beginning of a new year too… so welcome. Thanks so much for linking up with Siblings. x
Gorgeous, their giggles look infectious. Would love to have heard them chuckling away. Such happy little faces, I’m sure they do wind each other up, but you can see the love in these captures. #siblings
