At last. It has been warm. You won’t be surprised to hear that this has made me very happy!
We had a gorgeously sunny weekend and it saw us spend most of our time outside. It was busy and fun; with odd jobs completed, picnics eaten and Frisbees thrown. It was fabulous.
Now that the snow has gone, the front garden and driveway need some attention. Those leaves that we didn’t quite finish raking before the snow fell… well, they were still there :)
So, on Saturday, my husband headed out to start tidying up, and he was not short of willing helpers.
On Saturday evening, the kids had their first picnic of the year. This will be the first of many, and I must sort out a table and chairs in the garden :)
The picnic was followed by some enthusiastic running around and Frisbee play!
Sunday was another beautiful day, so it was back outside. The 8yo and I went for a run and my husband got on with repairing the ice damage to the porch (the railing needed to be put back up). Again, help was at hand :)
A rest was needed after all that hard work…
On Sunday afternoon there was a Ranger led hike at Breakheart Reservation for the Cub Scouts, so the kids headed off with their dad. I bowed out of this one to catch up on things at home, including getting us organised for holiday. Well, making a start at least!
My husband (and the 6yo!) took a few snaps for me. They had a fabulous time on the two hour hike, although the wee girl fell asleep at the end! And, yes, that pond is still frozen :)
A very hot group arrived back at the house, and refreshment, in the shape of ice pops, was required.
Last weekend was a taste of what we have to look forward to. We’re in the UK/Ireland for the next week and a half visiting family and friends, but I know that when we get back to the US, spring will have well and truly sprung and we will be heading back into a wonderful New England summer.
And that is definitely something to look forward to.
I’m linking up with the wonderful Country Kids at Coombe Mill, as always. Click on the badge to see what everyone else has been up to and be inspired to get outside!

How lovely to be finally enjoying the nice weather and looks like the wee girl was enjoying helping sweep up the leaves. I love her dress in the first few photos – so pretty! Glad they all had fun on the hike too – it seems very strange to see the pond so frozen when they all look like they are enjoying some very warm sunshine! #CountryKids
It is lovely to see the sun! That is one of my favourite dresses :)
It makes such a difference when you can all get outside again, great news and happy holiday sorting. Mich x
It really does!
How odd to have the sun out and the pond still be frozen! It’s been sunny here this week and it really make such a difference doesn’t it? x
It makes all the difference! And it is very odd to see things still frozen :)
Wow, what a busy weekend! It looks like it was really warm. How strange to still see ice when the kids are wearing Tshirts.
Hoping you’re having a fab time over this side of the pond this week! :)
It was lovely, and it is always strange to see the snow last into the warmer weather! We’re having a lovely time, thank you x
Ooo yes, Spring and sunshine is most definitely to be welcomed. I hope you’re enjoying your trip home too right now xx
I’m loving the sunshine, and we are enjoying our trip :)
So pleased you’ve finally got your sunshine and warmth! Looks like you made the very most of it, too :) x
We really did :)
I’m so pleased you are out of snow and into warmer times. Lovely to see the kids in short sleeves and enjoying their garden space again. Looks like a lovely day of clearing up the remains of the Autumn fall. How exciting to be coming back to the UK, you will be pleased to hear it is lovely here too, I don’t suppose Cornwall is on your list of places to visit?
Sadly Cornwall isn’t on our list :)
What a difference 4 weeks make, I come back and you have no snow! It must be such a relief for the kids to be able to get out and about more. Looks like they are having fun #CountryKids
Ha! It has quite suddenly all gone :)
Looks like you all really made the most of the warmer weather! Makes such a difference doesn’t it? Hope you’re having a fab time on our side of the pond :) xx
It’s been lovely, and we’re having a great time in the UK too :)
Its so lovely to see you finally have some sun, every week when I see more snow I feel for you as t starts to drive you mad doesn’t it? Have a wonderful break in the UK Sara, and OMG I want a porch like you, why don’t we have them in the UK they are so pretty x
It’s been a long time coming :) I love my porch!
I love when kids get involved, looks like you had a great time in the garden xx
We had a great weekend :)
We always get the twins involved in our garden and outdoor jobs and activities! It keeps them quiet and busy and makes them tired! Lovely photos x
Helping in the garden is a great activity :)
It is weird that few weeks ago that area is so full of snow! Its the same here, the sun is shining and the only place to be is outdoors =) #countrykids
The sun is just wonderful :)
