269: Meh: well written, but I was disappointed with this…
270: Autumn: a splash of colour from some autumn crocuses that were then flattened by rain!
271: Better: enjoying this much more than The Girl on the Train :)
272: Oops: missed a day, again!
273: Grey: a very grey, chilly day, but still had a nice walk downtown.
274: Almost: very last minute photo, but the husband and I are enjoying this.
275: Pop: a welcoming sight at my front door.
Week 40
276: Mine: Our September photo, taken in October!
277: Pond: a lovely walk around a local pond with a friend.
278: Cold/Hot: crazy New England weather, freezing in the morning, flip flops by lunchtime!
279: Fresh: these flowers are lasting so well, love them.
280: Pretty: autumn is taking hold, but there are still flowers to be found.
281: Prize: the 7yo’s ticket was drawn for an end of week school reward, and who could resist giant glasses?!
282: Green: yet another attempt to keep a house plant, we’ll see how long this one survives!
Love the pic of the crazy kids. The little autumn flowers are fascinating because they’ve got different coloured middles.
I really enjoyed The Girl on the Train (and have just watched the film today). The Bat is possibly the worst Jo Nesbo/ Harry Hole book as it’s such an early one.
I had heard such great things about Girl on the Train, I think I expected too much. I thought the writing was very good, but the ‘answer’ too obvious. I guess I was looking for a twist :) The Bat isn’t nearly as good as the later novels (it was a bit rambling at times!) but I’ve read most of his books and LOVE them so it was good to read this early one. Have Cockroaches to read next :)
I am very good at killing house plants as well.

oh you dint enjoy Girl On a Train? I was thinking I should read it and then go and see it at the cinema. you are the 1st person who i know to have read it who has not loved it tbh. Oh I am so useless at keeping plants alive – i feel sorry for any I am given as gifts that enter my house! Love the comedy over sized glasses lol Gorgeous family selfie of you all xx
I think it’s a good book, very well written, but I had expected more from it and I guessed too much too soon! I have killed so many houseplant gifts…!!
Glad to hear that I’m not the only one disappointed with Girl on a Train. I felt it really didn’t live up to the hype in fact I gave it up after about 120 pages as I really had no interest in finishing it.
I did think it was well written, especially the character of Rachel, but I had expected more of the story itself. I suspect if there hadn’t been so much hype I might have enjoyed it more!
Do they get the rewards from school? They’re so cool. Ours just get a certificate (it’s me funding the rewards that N’s been getting!)
Each teacher has a different system, but most have a ticket based thing where they earn/lose tickets/points based on behavior. The teachers fund the gifts themselves (dollar store gift cards are always on their wish-lists!) and the kids love choosing daft prizes when it’s their turn :)

lovely family photo and a good selection of reading. i was mildly disappointed with OITNB but it picked up towards the end of the last series, now waiting for the next one
I didn’t really know what to expect with OITNB but we’ve found it quite compelling. My husband commented that we don’t speak when it’s on, we’re both absorbed by it!
Hi Sara, what a nice collection of photos. I’ve was given the Girl On The Train, but have also heard it’s not as good as expected. I may give it a miss there’s nothing worse than a let down book…. And I see that Jenji Cohan wrote Orange Is The New Black, it’snot a series that would have appealed to me, but I loved Jenji Cohan’s series, Weeds, so will check that one out too.

I think my expectations were too high, so if you read it without that, then it is a well written book. Just don’t expect a major twist :) We’ve been surprised by how much we’ve enjoyed OITNB x
Those glasses are just fab. Where have I been going wrong? Love the photo of you all together and all your flower photos. I quite liked the book, but can’t get over the fact they’ve set the film in the US #366
Ha! I can just see you in giant green glasses ;) I know! I read the book for Book Club and we talked more about the fact that it had been set in the US instead of the UK (and has Emily Blunt playing Rachel!) than anything else :) WHY?!?
