This week has been all about the snow. We’re currently looking out at more than a foot of the white stuff, with more on the way. In fact, it’s snowing as I type.
It snowed on Tuesday morning, far more heavily than expected, didn’t melt as much as it was supposed to and caused dozens (and dozens) of crashes the following morning as it froze in the early hours causing dreadful black ice.
Then the big storm arrived, with snow falling all day on Thursday and leaving us with more than a foot to dig out. The kids had snow days both Thursday and Friday, and we’re now into the weekend with plenty of snow to play in, and potentially a lot more to come tomorrow night!
I’ve taken LOADS of snowy photos, and it was hard to choose which to share over on Instagram as my daily photo, and even harder to choose my favourite of the week. (You can check out my Snow Storm post to see lots more snowy photos!)
But, I love this photo of my 10yo having a rest. I mean, what else do you do in a foot of snow but have a lie down and make like it’s sand and bury yourself?!
The kids have had a great time playing in the snow, and despite my poor 7yo coming down with a really nasty stomach bug that has laid him pretty low, snow days and snow play have cheered him up no end.
Hopefully they’ll go back to school on Monday though :)

We’ve had loads of snow! Around two feet I think :) The morning of the ice was scary, so many crashes!

A foot? Blimey. Over here we had just the lightest dusting that sat on the car roof, but that was pretty much it round our way.

I’ve been watching it on the news and my cousin sent pics from PA. Sure glad we only suffered through some cold and ice. Hope you’ve gotten a break over the weekend. Everything melting here in WI. Nothing like a good snow angle to cheer you up, hope he feels better soon, nasty bug going around here as well.
Yes , my kids would do similar. Although to receive 30cms of the stuff is incredibly rare over here, as you know. Enjoy the weather!
Hi Sara, now that is what I call snow. It puts our smattering to shame! So do you get out and make snow angels too. I think I would (once or twice before moaning about the cold!). Hope your little ones recovers soon.

Yes, I don’t mind the proper snow :) But the black ice is not so much fun!

Yes, we are! Just outside Boston :) We certainly seem to have made up for January over the last week!!

hope your son is feeling better, we can make sand angels here, but there was snow last weekend in the mountains, a 2 hour drive north from Dubai. We’ve also been having rain, there are loads of accidents with pooling water though

Great snow photo , we were promised three days of heavy snow this weekend. We’ve had nothing but a spoonful of the smallest snowflakes possible and then a LOT of rain, very upsetting for the 10yo who was intending to spend the weekend in much the same position as your son :)

It has been a lot of fun, on the whole! A lot of shoveling required too!
It must be a nightmare with all the snow days they end up with over the winter. How do 2 working parents cope? Do they feel like they miss out on loads of school work?
It can be tricky, we’re lucky that I’m home. Although the Thursday was a snow day for my husband too as his company closed the office as the driving conditions were so dangerous!
I so wish we got some snow this year.
