Jaime over at The Oliver’s Madhouse has had a lovely idea to start a linky called ‘Magic Moments’ to capture those little moments that are so easily missed or forgotten, but are magical none the less.
Our wee girl has never been as keen on food as her brothers were. She loved her fruit and veg purées and, once she was allowed it, yogurt, but it was a huge struggle to get her to move to lumpy foods – she has an amazingly strong gag reflex! She’s much fussier (the boys would eat anything you put in front of them) and there have been times when she’s just refused to eat full stop.
She rebelled against the spoon for a good month and got bored with finger food after a few minutes, so we had some rather stressful days! She’s now getting much better, and is largely eating the same as everyone else – a huge relief, and a lot less work for me!
Last week she suddenly started ‘practicing’ with an empty bowl and spoon – she had already scavenged whatever one of her brothers had left in the bowl… She spent most of an afternoon with the bowl – the concentration was intense.
So, we decided it was time to let her loose with a full bowl… Now, we did this a lot earlier with our first, a little later with the second and I’ve been totally putting it off with her! The mess! I have enough clearing up to do as it is :) But… It was hysterical and she absolutely loved it – and despite ending up with a face coated in yogurt, she got a remarkable amount in her mouth :)
She was so pleased with herself!
I’m so glad that I stopped what I was doing and got the camera out and recorded the moment – it would have been so easy to miss it in the dinner/bedtime chaos.
Why not hop on over to The Oliver’s Madhouseand take a look at some other magical moments!
