Last weekend we went to Storyland in New Hampshire. We had an amazing weekend, catching up with friends, enjoying the sunshine and having a lot of fun on the rides!
Storyland is a theme park aimed at younger kids, the rides are all smaller, and once kids hit three feet tall they can go on everything, as long as they are accompanied by a ‘responsible guest’. The wee girl just about made the height requirement this time round, if we got her to stand tall! At four feet, kids can go on the rides by themselves, which the 8yo loves; it gives him a real sense of independence.
The scale of the rides also make them perfect for adults like me who aren’t massively keen on theme parks :)
We went a couple of times last year, which you can read about here, here and here (we really got our money’s worth from the season passes that we bought!) and the boys absolutely loved it. The wee girl was still a little young, but had a great time on the smaller rides.
We’ve been so busy with the house move over the last month or so that we were all in need of a break, so when friends said they were going up and did we fancy meeting them there, we jumped at the chance.
We spent all day on both Saturday and Sunday in the park, spending the Sunday with two other families which was a lot of fun. We were in a group of six children, so each of our three had a friend of a similar age, and they had an absolute blast! It also made it a lot of fun for the adults as we were able to split up with different combinations of kids depending on who wanted to do what.
As we have been before I didn’t take nearly as many photos as previous trips, I just focused on enjoying the weekend. I did manage to capture a bit of the fun though :)
It was a weekend where I actually managed to get a few decent shots of the three.
It was a weekend of smiles and laughter.
We sailed in a pirate ship and drove swan boats.
We had old fashioned fun on the carousel.
We made the mistake of going on the spinning turtles. It took me two hours to recover, mortified doesn’t even come close… This was taken before they started spinning and the nausea took over!
We met Cinderella.
And took comedy photos.
And, being with friends meant that we got a rare photo of all five of us.
It really was a fantastic weekend. The weather was perfect.
The new wooden (very fast, very bumpy) roller coaster became the new favourite ride for the 8yo. I declined going on that one and stuck to the small one! The log flume ride remained a favourite for all of us. The wee girl experienced the raft ride for the first time, and was distinctly unimpressed :)
We will never, ever go on the spinning turtles again!
We ate ice cream and rode the train; we got wet and screamed, a lot.
We loved it so much that we are heading back on Monday to introduce friends from the UK, who arrive at the weekend, to the delights of New Hampshire and Storyland. Those season passes are being very well used!
I’m linking up with the wonderful Country Kids at Coombe Mill, as always. Click on the badge to see what everyone else has been up to and be inspired to get outside!

This looks like a great place to visit, no wonder you want to go back, loving all the photos especially the one of all of you x
It is brilliant, we all love it :)
It does look great fun and so nice that it is pitched at the younger children. You have lovely photos of smiling children. That says it all. #CountryKids
It is perfectly pitched for the age range of our kids, I suspect we’ll get another couple of years out of it :)
Looks like a perfect place to visit as a family, especially now that Wee Girl can go on all the rides. #CountryKids
It is great fun, she was getting braver, although still prefers the smaller rides :)
Sounds fantastic! Love the family pic – I bet the kids we try & drag you back on the turtles with your uk friends #countrykids
Thank you! To be fair the boys were madly keen on the turtles either :)
A great place to have a local pass for. I can see this being a ht time and time again with the children. We have one here which looks very similar and our passes have run out, seeing your photos I think I may have to join up again for another year. Thank you for sharing your Storyland fun on Country Kids.
It has been so worth getting the pass. We bought it last year and it covered the end of the 2013 season and the whole of 2014. We really have got our money’s worth! Thanks for hosting x
Spinning turtles aside, that looks like a fun way to spend a weekend and you all look like you enjoyed it very much. Love the photo of the five of you together :-)
Yes, we won’t be going on the turtles again, but we had such a good time!
It sounds (and looks!) fab. I like the idea of a theme park for younger children from my own point of view! I’m not a big fan of scary rides and spend the whole day at a theme park worrying.
The rides at Storyland are just about the right size for me (and if even then there a couple that I won’t go on!).
This looks like so much fun! It really looks like there was something for each of the children to enjoy!

There really is something for everyone :)
Oh, I’ve seen your Storyland trips before and I so love the look of this place! Lovely that the wee girl can join in with the fun more this time round, too :) x
It was a lot of fun watching her get so excited this time :)
That looks such a fun place to visit!! Lovely photos x
Thanks Kim x
A great place for younger children. We always found it a bit hard with some theme parks as my daughter wasn’t tall enough to go on some of the rides. Great to go to a place where you don’t keep having to stay ‘When you get older!’
This place really is ideal with smaller children x
I remember your previous posts, looks like a great place to explore and so nice to see a full family photo too #CountryKids
It was lovely to do a day there with friends x
I absolutely and categorically can’t stand anything that goes round and round, especially not if fast! I once went on the waltzers, screamed my head off which made the attendant spin them faster, then got off and threw up. Horrible!!
That’s a fabulous photo of the five of you, all do happy and smiley. It sounds like a great place to have a pass to, love finding places like that.
Nipping over from Country Kids.
I knew I would hate it (always hated the waltzers too), and I should have stuck to my guns and not gone on it! It was a huge mistake, I am still amazed that I didn’t throw up, it was very, very close!
We love Story Land too! Unfortunately on our visit we missed Cinderella. Your photos are beautiful!
Oh, I love that you’ve been there too! It’s so amazing isn’t it?! That was the first time we’d gone up to the castle and met Cinderella :)
Sorry, the spinning turtles thing did make me smile, but only because I can imagine exactly what went on as we’d have been the same! Looks a great place and how lovely to have a family shot. And I do love the ones you got of the three children together, lovely :)
I can almost smile about it now, but even the following day I kept having flashbacks! I’m really pleased to have got some photos of the three too :)
Looks like such a lovely day out. New Hampshire is on my wish list of spots in the USA to visit one day xx
New Hampshire is lovely, in fact everywhere we’ve been in New England so far is just beautiful. We went up in to New Hampshire at the start of fall last year and it was stunning x
I looks like you had an amazing time! Such great family photo’s , so good when you find somewhere you all really love to go back to again and again too :) #Countrykids
Thank you x I was so pleased to get some good photos of the kids and of all of us together, happens so rarely :)
Looks like a fab place to visit! Love the princess … and a great picture of you all together :)
Thank you, it’s great fun :)
This looks like a great day out! The children look like they’re having a brilliant time x
It was such good fun!
From the smiles on those faces – definitely looks like you all had a great time! #magicmoments
Looks like a good place to visit. We prefer places without big, scary rides.
What a fab time you all had (apart from the turtles!) Love the family snap at the end :-) lots of #MagicMoments here xx
Sounds like an amazing day out! we have something similar near us that my daughter loves
What a perfect place to visit – love traditional fun like the carousel and the little houses. Stopping by from #magicmoments
Looks like a lovely day out. So happy that you managed to get a pic of the entire family, how wonderful that you spent the weekend with friends!
That looks and sounds a magical place! I did lol at the spinning turtles, I don’t like anything that spins me either – I can manage rollercoasters but not teacups at Thorpe Park! xx
Oh yes, I avoid the teacups too :)
Sounds like a fab place to go with the kids, and looks like you had a lovely time and loads of fun! xx #whatsthestory
That’s exactly the kind of theme park I need to visit with the girls-I’m a big scaredy cat when it comes to rollercoasters and other rides!!
Ahhh bless this is so sweet and lovely that you all had a chance to go to story land and make such great memories. Just amazing. I love all the happy fun filled photos too. You have the happiest children ever. Glad you had a great time. #magicmoments #whatsthestory
This reminds me of our recent trip to Disneyland! Wasn’t a fan of theme parks, but since becoming a mum, I love it because of little T loves them too. This looks so much fun – the kids smiles are absolutely priceless! #countrykids, #whatsthestory.
Awww this is the first time that I saw a family photo of your guys! I would want one for us too =P
Such a nice place and yes I would enjoy something like this as I am a small too. Looks like a fun family trip! Thanks for sharing. =) #countrykids
This place looks like such a great day out with so much to do. I love your pictures x
This looks wonderful and adore all the sweet family pics #countrykids

Looks a brilliant place to visit. The spinning turtles would probably make me feel really sick too :)
