My week that was [4]

This week has been mainly cold…

Monday
It was Martin Luther King day so my husband had the day off – not that we knew that until Sunday evening! So, we just had a nice lazy day. I took the wee girl swimming in the morning and then we played games and chilled in the afternoon, followed by a family meal. My husband is normally home too late for the kids, so we don’t generally manage to eat together during the week. Spaghetti bolognese and garlic bread – and wee girl actually ate it too, result!

Tuesday
It was supposed to snow overnight, but thankfully there was only a dusting. It was however baltic! This was the first day of daytime highs of -10C and below. Far too cold to do anything much!

Wednesday
It was so cold this morning (-25C with windchill…) that another mom came and picked the 6yo up and my neighbour watched the wee girl while I took the 3yo to school. I couldn’t get over how cold it was! I took my wee girl to her music class. Stayed close to home other than that! Didn’t enjoy having to go back out at 5.30 in the cold and dark to pick 6yo up from his art class!

Thursday
Another freezing day… Cabin fever starting to set in!

Friday
My husband took a half day so that I could go in and do ‘Family Reader’ for my 6yo’s First Grade class. This is a really fun thing to do. My son loves that I’m there in his classroom reading to his class. And the other kids get really excited too. This week I read Under the Bed and A Squash and a Squeeze. We had a lovely afternoon as daddy was home, and had a family movie night (The Last Airbender) and pizza. It was a really good day :)

Saturday
The boys had their swimming lessons in the morning. They got their hair cut in the afternoon – 6yo was starting to look like Liam Gallagher! Although it is now a touch short… Our latest ‘language’ lesson is that a regular haircut is a Regular haircut and means a number 3 all over… Oops!

Sunday
We went into the city today (we live about 10 miles north of Boston itself). My husband took the kids to the Aquarium, which they love, and I went to the MFA. This is one of my favourite galleries, I fell in love with it the first time I visited Boston over ten years ago. It’s a wonderful collection. My husband got me membership for my birthday, so I want to make the most of that! There was a Mario Testino exhibition that is ending next weekend that I wanted to make sure I saw, so I headed across town and spent a lovely hour on my own at the gallery. I then went back to the Aquarium to have lunch with hubby and the kids. A family Sunday dinner finished off a lovely day.
