I was flicking through some old photos last week and I came across the set we took on my 7yo’s first day of Primary School.
Two years ago!
He was definitely ready to start school. He was extremely excited about it!
He and his two best friends from nursery were going to be in the same class and he couldn’t wait.
His first day finally arrived.
The brand new uniform was taken out of the wardrobe and proudly put on.
His new school bag was packed.
He was ready to go!
He loved his first day, and every day after. If it hadn’t been for the dreaded chickenpox, he wouldn’t have missed a day!
We were so proud of him that day.
Seeing the excitement and enthusiasm with which he launched himself at this new adventure was definitely a magical moment!

How lovely that his first day was a source of excitement rather than apprehension, I can see why you are so proud of him :-)
I honestly don’t think it occurred to him to be nervous – I think I was more apprehensive than he was :)
ah is this before stateside? thinking it must be as he is in a uniform? He looks very cute. i remember my son’s first day of school, he was so very excited too!
It was indeed! He did a year of school in the UK, then had to go through the ‘first day’ thing all over again!
Such lovely photos. It seems like only yesterday since my children started school. Now this September my son will go into year 4 and my twins start year 2. They do leave us with such lovely memories though don’t they?

That’s great. We take a photo on the first day of every term each September, then lay them out on my boys’ timelines on our website. It’s just fascinating looking back. That 7 year old will soon be at secondary school, then a spotty teen!!! Such a gift for them..
We have a set of photos that have been taken at around the same time every year, since they were each about one year old – we call it our Gallery – so lovely to look at all the photos together and see how they’ve changed over the years.

Awww he looked so pleased and love the jump. Its so great when you know they’re ready and excited about it rather than having to be coaxed in through the doors.
