After the excitement of the last month, with our trips to New Hampshire and New Mexico, we have stayed close to home this week.
The boys are both back at school now, and the exhaustion that only seems to come during the first couple of weeks of term has arrived. For all of us!
Add to that the fact that the weather has been dull and damp (Labor Day Weekend was a bit of a wash out!), our outdoor activities have been a bit limited – and we’ve stuck to simple garden fun. There have been beyblade battles in the tuff spot; acorns have been collected (and thrown at the trees, the house…); karate and ninja moves have been practiced.
It’s amazing how much fun you can have with a ball though!

The wee girl was right there with her brothers, not to be outdone, running and chasing – a little whirlwind of energy and determination. Daddy had fun running around with them – there was much squealing and laughing :)
We stayed outside until we were chased indoors by the squirrels throwing acorns at us from the tree tops – I kid you not! And, their aim is pretty good!
I am linking up with the wonderful Coombe Mill’s Country Kids again this week. Click on the badge to see what everyone else has been up to!

hahaha what a great post Sara, I’m laughing at the acorn throwing squirrels, they were telling you all to bugger off! Sometimes just playing in your own garden is as much fun as going out. I’m loving the action shots of your wee girl, she’s a real little firecracker, I love how in all your posts she just gets right into the thick of things with the boys xx
They were out to get us! We could see them in the tree, and we were being showered by acorns! It was hilarious :)
The wee girl is fearless, throws herself into everything! Bit terrifying at times, but she is such a character :)
Love your evil squirrels! You only need to give your kids a little outside space and they’re happy, which is lovely to see ;-)
It is isn’t – a good reminder that we don’t have to go somewhere, we can have fun wherever we are. The squirrels are evil, or don’t care that we’re there while they gather their acorns for the winter :)
A game of family football – guaranteed to be a winner with the children, I’m sure there was plenty of smiles and laughter. What cheeky squirrels – they obviously thought you were disturbing their peace and quiet :) Thanks for sharing your family outdoor fun with Country Kids.
It was great fun, the kids just loved it! The squirrels were so funny, we could see them up the tree batting acorns at us :)
Looks a lot of fun! I believe you about squirrels
It was! And the squirrels weren’t phased by us being there at all – there were a good few near misses :)
Great photos! Sometimes the simplest things can keep them entertained for the longest can’t they – looks like they all had great fun!
Thank you. You’re so right, doesn’t need to be complicated xx
Sometimes it’s the mundane that seems special. Love the squirrels and their acorns ;)
Absolutely :) The squirrels were determined… And accurate!
Ha! Do they really throw acorns? Very Beatrix Potter. I think we all need time at home, just enjoying life. I know I do. Then again, our squirrels tend to run away when we come out to play. :)
Well, they certainly batted them at us with great accuracy :) Totally unphased by our presence!
Snap…end of the holidays has meant quiet days at the local park for us. You don’t have to go far though for outdoor fun!
Absolutely – the kids just love to be outside!
haha squirrels are great, I think they are all like Scrat from Ice Age :)
Great photos, looks like fun! x
They were hilarious! And accurate :)
