What with school projects, rain and (of course!) Halloween, our outdoor adventures have been slightly less adventurous this week!
But, just to prove that you need very little to have fun outdoors, this post features a ball and a box!
It had been a busy day, and the kids really needed to run around and let off some steam. It was late in the afternoon, so we didn’t want to go far.
Cue, games master daddy…
Take: one (recycling) box, one very bouncy ball, two places markers (in this case frisbees!) and two enthusiastic boys!
Rules: must stand behind marker, ball must bounce once before landing in box.
Naturally ninja moves are required to celebrate a winning throw :)
As always the wee girl had to join in…
As the weather gets colder and the temptation to stay inside gets ever stronger (and I know I will be guilty of this some days), it is good to be reminded that kids don’t need a big, organised adventure. They don’t even need to get as far as the nearest park. All they need is imagination, and encouragement to get outside.

Oh how true! You really don’t need a big expedition. Mine spend so much time making up games outside, that they can stay out there for hours. I am so going to steal this idea for when they run out of their own ideas. #CountryKids

Well done you on getting them our playing in the garden. My mum is so anti it lately it’s ridiculous, even more so because we were always out as children. Great fun and laughter in your photos.

The simple ideas are so often the best. You can see from the children’s faces that this game had them captivated. A little challenge but I bet it was harder than it looked! Well done your husband for coming up with such an ingenious idea. I think anyone could copy this for some quick outdoor fun between wintry showers. A great Country Kids entry, thank you.

The boys were having too much fun to let anyone else have a go :) I’m surprised they let their sister anywhere near the ball!
I’m loving the ninja moves Sara and this does prove that they don’t need a whole big expedition to have outdoors fun, they all look like they had tons of fun and their happy smiling faces say it all. Your wee girl is getting more and more like you every week. She really is a mini Sara :)
