One morning this week, as we arrived home, the wee girl asked to look for squirrels.
‘Shhhh, wa was?’
She loves squirrels. Even if she does call them wa was!
So, we went looking for squirrels.
We must crouch down and be very still if we’re going to see the squirrels.
And, we must be very quiet.
Because, if we’re very quiet, we might just see a squirrel or two, and then we’re very happy!
As always I am linking up with the wonderful Fiona at Coombe Mill’s Country Kids. As the weather gets colder, even just getting outside for half an hour makes all the difference. Although, to be fair, it was a lovely mild morning!
Click on the badge to see what everyone else has been up to and be inspired to get outside!
I am also linking up with the lovely Mummy Daddy Me for Ordinary Moments, watching my wee girl hunt for squirrels was just wonderful, such determination! A simple, ordinary, perfect moment.

what a really lovely squirrel adventure x
Thanks Jaime x
Awww, this is so beautiful! You’ve captured the moment beautifully. I adore the way young children live in the moment and give us the opportunity to escape all our worries and ‘to do’ lists for a moment to embrace nature in all its wonder and purity. Did you see a squirrel in the end? I’m sure it shan’t be long with all that expert, quiet, animal spotting skill!
Thank you! We did see a squirrel :) She was very excited!
Oh Sara what a wonderful post – I can just imagine the two of you creeping around the garden. Mind you I bet there was lots of shouting too. Fabulous words around some really fabulous photos :)
Thank you – there was certainly some excited squealing :)
Adorable Sara, I love the story to follow the photos and that last one is one to blow up on a canvas, just beautiful! Such a cute Country Kids post, thank you for linking.
Thanks Fiona! And, thanks for hosting xx
I love the pic of her ‘shushing’ you, so cute how they get an idea in their heads!
Isn’t it? She’s big in shushing us :)
She’s gorgeous – careful she might charm one of the squirrels into becoming a pet!
I know, I’ll have to keep a close eye on her :)
Oh, those photos are gorgeous! Love wee girl crouching and shushing. Lovely to do something that she wanted to do, indulging her wa was obsession ;)
Thank you! She really does adore the wa was :)
How beautiful-she is adorable! I agree, getting out even for a little is just wonderful :)
Thanks Iona. A little bit of fresh air is great for us all :)
ha how lovely! my daughter calls them ‘squibbles!’
Squibbles, love that! The names they come up with are so adorable :)
Bless her, she’s growing up so fast. We have squirrels at the bottom of the garden most winters #CountryKids
I know, she really is, scary! She does love the squirrels :)
Aww, what a cutie! :)
Thank you :)
What beautiful photos, she is such a cutie.
Thank you :)
You right; it is good to get out even if it’s just for half an hour. Beautiful photos!
Thanks! It makes all the difference to your day doesn’t it?

Thank you!
That’s so so cute. Where can he be! Lovely photos :)
Thank you :)
The expressions captured here are priceless! She is such a cutie. We get overly friendly squirrels in our park and they love when you bring them some nuts.
Thank you :) She would love it if the squirrels would come a bit closer!
put some bird seed at floor level you can get quite close to the squirrels then.
Must try that :) She just loves watching them!
Lovely photos, what a cutie!
Thank you!
Oh how gorgeous! She has the most lovely smile! And my little girl loves squirrels too, we often watch them climbing the tree outside our house. x
Thank you :) She just loves watching them, she’ll stand at the back door for ages hoping to spot one :)
Awww, so cute. My little one loves squirrels too and we are often found hunting for them :) x
