The boys have been on holiday this week. I had some ideas of what we might do; a trip to the beach, a bug hunt, a day out in Boston. However, the week took on a life of it’s own and I went with it!
We’ve had a great week, albeit not the one I was expecting!
Monday saw us go out for breakfast, a rare treat, as my husband had the day off work. Tuesday was a quiet day of garden play and crafts. Wednesday saw us take a spontaneous trip north to Salem with friends. We spent the day at the Peabody Essex Museum enjoying the interactive children’s rooms and a little bit of running around. All good fun, until the 5yo accidentally set off an exhibit alarm…! We had hoped to take a walk along the sea front too, but the heavy rain put paid to that. Thursday brought high winds, so we joined a friend at an indoor play space in Boston, I braved the drive into the city…
Today however, we finally made it outside properly with a trip to the zoo!
Each new outing shows us how much the wee girl and the boys have grown. Today the boys wanted to show the wee girl everything, make sure that she could see the animals in the enclosures. It was lovely to watch.
Daddy was there to help too.
There was time for some pooh sticks!
Before heading to the petting zoo to see the goats.
No trip would be complete without a visit to the park and both the wee girl and the 7yo showed off their skills!
It was a great morning. The sun shone, it was warm! The kids love the zoo and we love watching them have fun.
I’m linking up with the wonderful Country Kids at Coombe Mill again this week. Click on the badge to see what everyone else has been up to and be inspired to get outside!

They look so excited! Loving the way your eldest is interacting with your daughter such a caring brother #countrykids
It was lovely to watch, he really does look out for her x
We love going to the zoo. It’s always so much fun. And you all definitely look like you had a great time.
Thank you, it was a fun morning, we hadn’t been for ages so the kids enjoyed it :)
Those are really special the photos of your boys showing and helping the wee girl at the zoo. Wait till she starts trying to copy them at the playpark too!
Thank you, they were so good with her. And, she’s not far off the copying :)
Lovely photos! It looks like you all had a brilliant time. It must be nice to be wearing Tshirts too after your long, cold winter.
It really is, it was a beautiful sunny day :)
Sometimes the best holidays are the ones that just happen. You packed in a lot. And do I spot a fellow programmer in your midst, judging my the tshirt? #CountryKids
He just described himself as a reformed programmer :) But, most of his t-shirts come from Think Geek!
It doers look like a fab outing, topping off a week of fun (and museum mayhem)! The wee girl is growing so quickly, and is starting to look so grown up now. Love the photos of the boys pointing things out to her x
It was a nice end to the week. She is suddenly a little girl, too fast!
What adorable photos and looks like a brilliant way to spend the morning. We love the zoo in this house too!
It is a great way to pass a morning :)
Lovely to see the kids in just t-shirt without heavy coats! :) A zoo is always a perfect place to spend time with the kids, which reminds me, we really ought to visit one again soon. #CountryKids.
It was actually warm! Makes such a difference :)
It sounds like you had a great week and finishing it off with the zoo must have been a highlight for the children. It’s lovely that the boys are so attentive and caring to their little sister and having Dad there too makes for quality family time and fun together.
