Country Kids: a trip to the zoo

A-Trip-to-the-Zoo

The boys have been on holiday this week. I had some ideas of what we might do; a trip to the beach, a bug hunt, a day out in Boston. However, the week took on a life of it’s own and I went with it!

We’ve had a great week, albeit not the one I was expecting!

Monday saw us go out for breakfast, a rare treat, as my husband had the day off work. Tuesday was a quiet day of garden play and crafts. Wednesday saw us take a spontaneous trip north to Salem with friends. We spent the day at the Peabody Essex Museum enjoying the interactive children’s rooms and a little bit of running around. All good fun, until the 5yo accidentally set off an exhibit alarm…! We had hoped to take a walk along the sea front too, but the heavy rain put paid to that. Thursday brought high winds, so we joined a friend at an indoor play space in Boston, I braved the drive into the city…

Today however, we finally made it outside properly with a trip to the zoo!

Each new outing shows us how much the wee girl and the boys have grown. Today the boys wanted to show the wee girl everything, make sure that she could see the animals in the enclosures. It was lovely to watch.

There was time for some pooh sticks!

No trip would be complete without a visit to the park and both the wee girl and the 7yo showed off their skills!

It was a great morning. The sun shone, it was warm! The kids love the zoo and we love watching them have fun.

Those are really special the photos of your boys showing and helping the wee girl at the zoo. Wait till she starts trying to copy them at the playpark too!

He just described himself as a reformed programmer :) But, most of his t-shirts come from Think Geek!

  2. It doers look like a fab outing, topping off a week of fun (and museum mayhem)! The wee girl is growing so quickly, and is starting to look so grown up now. Love the photos of the boys pointing things out to her x

  3. Lovely to see the kids in just t-shirt without heavy coats! :) A zoo is always a perfect place to spend time with the kids, which reminds me, we really ought to visit one again soon. #CountryKids.

  4. It sounds like you had a great week and finishing it off with the zoo must have been a highlight for the children. It’s lovely that the boys are so attentive and caring to their little sister and having Dad there too makes for quality family time and fun together. Thanks for linking up and sharing your fun with Country Kids.

The zoo is so much fun, for both adults and children! We try to go every year. Love the pictures and how her brothers are showing her everything!

Ah great minds with the zoo trip! Looks like you all had so much fun and so lovely to see wee girl’s big brothers looking after her and making sure she could see the animals! That play area looked like a lot of fun too! Family days like that are just good for the soul aren’t they, full of fun and laughter! xx #countrykids

  7. I love the first image, just gorgeous. And I’m totally impressed you drove in to Boston-only ever driven there once and I wouldn’t fancy repeating it I have to be honest!
The zoo trip looks a lot of fun and warm too, yay!

It’s not fun! I think I would have preferred very central Boston over the area I ended up in :) The zoo was great x
