Yesterday I took the kids on an impromptu visit to the zoo after school. We only had an hour before it closed, but they didn’t mind; they were free to run around and see the few animals left that can survive a New England winter, and that made them happy.
Me? Well, I enjoyed watching the excitement and listening to the laughter, and I enjoyed the lights. Our local zoo has a Christmas Zoo Lights event, which will go to over the holidays, but I hadn’t expected all the lights to be switched on in the afternoon.
It was starting to get dark; the lights were becoming brighter as dusk fell.
It was really quite magical, and the photographs do not do it justice.
Back at home, our tree is up; old decorations rediscovered after being packed away for three years, old favourites found and memories refreshed. Old and new decorations are now mixed, although a new house brings with it new challenges and I’m still not quite sure where to put everything. I expect next Christmas to feel more complete, and well, organised!
I’m finally feeling festive, and looking forward to a wonderful Christmas with my family.
Joining in with Annie over at Mammasaurus for the wonderful How does your garden grow? and wishing you all a very Merry Christmas x

I do love it once the house is decorated, especially fairy lights, in fact some of our lights stay up all year :)

Those lights are wonderful, I love your tree too. I think adding new decorations every year and never having enough room for all of it is part of the fun!
