This has been a wonderful Christmas; full of fun and laughter, and no stress… I wrote before Christmas of my decision to let things go, be ruthless (realistic) with my to-do list and make a conscious decision to relax and not allow stress to seep in.
I’m pleased to say that I succeeded, and we had the most amazing few days. Christmas Day was particularly special and in the words of my daughter (repeated at regular intervals, sounding incredibly cute coming from a two year old) it was the Best. Christmas. Ever!
Until the next one of course :)
We opened presents and chatted and ate lovely food. The kids (and I) enjoyed having Granny with us to share the fun. We played with new toys and read new books. We all got competitive with the Simon memory game. My husband and I even managed to cook together without bickering!
I make no apologies for the grainy snap shots, or for the blurry excitement. This was our Christmas, captured as we went; no interrupting to take the perfect photo. On this one occasion there was no stopping the enthusiastic unwrapping or repeating the action to get the shot.
Except for the failed attempt to get all three children to look at the camera at the same time just before we sat down to dinner…!
I have dozens more photos, and they make me smile every time I look at them. This is the first Christmas that the wee girl really understood what was happening, and her excited jumping up and down was so wonderful to see.
We spent a large part of the day simply watching her twirl and sing and skip between new toys and books; so thrilled with everything, especially the presents from Santa. She had asked for toys, a teddy, a choo-choo train and a beee-ooo-tiful dress (I had to hide the dress after two days so that I could wash it!). The look of utter wonder on her face as she opened her stocking and found exactly what she had asked for; that was a truly perfect moment.
So, as we head towards the New Year, this one is ending on a high, with beautiful memories created and captured.
I hope that you all had the most amazing Christmas; we certainly did.

It sounds and looks like you had a wonderful Christmas!! Lovely photos! x
You know what, I made the decision to forget the pictures and concentrate on enjoying the moment too. We have some grainy ones but the poor kids are forever waiting for me and my camera and I wanted them to just get to enjoy it. Sounds like you had a wonderful time and looks perfect. Thank you for linking up to Magic Moments and have a wonderful New Year :)
Oh what a happy Christmas you had! Absolutely lovely and deserved :) x
Oh how lovely – sounds like you had a wonderful Christmas. Definitely more important to relax and enjoy rather than trying to get perfect photos – mine weren’t great this year either but like yours, they do capture how much the children were enjoying it all. So glad you had such a lovely day :-)
Lovely post. Merry Christmas and happy new year x
