We’ve been confined to the car for the school run/activities/classes for the last two months. And it’s not just the kids that have been going a bit stir crazy!
But over the last couple of weeks, with the help of some bright and milder days, the snow and ice on the pavements has all but disappeared. So despite this week seeing a return of the sub-zero temperatures*, I was determined to get out for a walk…
The wee girl has a toddler class on a Thursday morning which is only a ten minute walk for us. So, out came the stroller, we wrapped up and off we set. A brisk walk there with the wee girl cosy in her buggy (running late as usual!) was followed by a rather chilly stroll home.
Freedom, and clear pavements, are good though :)
Bright days result in mini thaws which then freeze over night, so there are still patches of ice to investigate…
And, little walls are always fun to climb/walk along!
It was a short walk, but hopefully the first of many. Simply being able to navigate the pavements again is fabulous, hopefully we will see some more milder weather soon (please!) so that we can get out and about in our usual fashion. And, taking photos without freezing my fingers off would be good too…
Getting some fresh air and exercise was much needed, and much appreciated. This smiling face says it all really!
[*Yup, it’s still below freezing and we have snow forecast for tomorrow. And yes, that would be the first day of Spring.]
I’m linking up with the wonderful Country Kids at Coombe Mill, as always. Click on the badge to see what everyone else has been up to and be inspired to get outside!

Looks like a good walk. I missed ghe snow this year and last but i get what you mean about being able yo walk. Have A great weekend
Thank you, the snow has been fun, but I hate not being able to walk anywhere!
You can see the cold in her cheeks, I love brisk walks but we rarely get snow here.
My two insist on walking the walls we come across too #countrykids
It was very chilly! But, great to get the fresh air x
Brrr, hope you don’t get any more snow. Bet it’s lovely to get out walking and have things back to normal, if still cold!
Sadly, we woke to another inch. But that has to be it, right?!?
I can’t believe how quick it’s melted out there, after all the weeks of extremely deep snow.
It looks like she is enjoying being able to walk normally on firm ground.
Hope it’s not a deep snow due.
#countrykids
Where the city have made a good job of clearing it’s gone! Go down a side street and it’s a different matter :)
Walking is such a simple pleasure, it looks like Little Miss would agree too! I hope it clears up a bit more soon so that you can get some more freedom to stretch your legs and enjoy the fresh spring air. There’s still plenty of exciting things to explore in the cold like the ice rivers across the pavement. Thanks for linking up with me on Country Kids.
Thank you Fiona, fingers crossed that the temperatures lift a bit too :)
Thank goodness the ice is melting, even though I did love all your snow photos! Walking out and about is definitely worth doing, even though it still looks cold! :) #countrykids.
It’s great to be able to get out for a walk again without fighting with ice!
Oh the freedom must be awesome after all that snow, but sub zero temperatures! Yikes!
We’ve had lots of blue skies but I have looked at the weather for the next 10 days and it is mostly 8 degrees and peaks at 10 even at the end of March when it should be warm. Aaron’s had me at the park after school and it’s fine when we first get there but I am cold to the bone by the time we leave. Good on you guys getting out of the car, you must be looking forward to the sunnier weather. xxx
Very much looking forward to warmer weather now, I’m sick of being cold!
Soon we’re going to be all jealous because you’ll have the sunny and consistantly hot weather! It must be refreshing though getting a chance to actually go outside for stroller/walks.
I know, I can’t wait for summer :)
It must be wonderful to actually be able to get out and walk – you guys must go stir crazy at times #CountryKids
We definitely do, but the end is in sight, it just needs to warm up a little :)
Love your title, and look at her cute, colourful outfit!
Thank you Mel x
Wow no more ice! Its so weird seeing the pavement in photos so I can only imagine how it is with you! This looks like a fun walk! #countrykids
It was great to be out walking again :)
