Review and Giveaway: Odylique by Essential Care

Review: Odylique by Essential Care

I have sensitive skin, and I am always wary of trying new products. When we moved to the US I brought a six month supply of my usual skincare products in case I wasn’t able to get them here!

I am very picky about what I put on my skin, in particular my face.

When I was asked to review the Odylique (by Essential Care) skincare range I was a little hesitant, but then I read through the website, and more importantly the testimonials.

I was impressed.

Odylique (the new name of organic heritage brand Essential Care) is a range of high performance, award-winning organic skincare designed for sensitive skin.

Margaret Weeds began making skin care from natural ingredients over 30 years ago as ‘conventional’ cosmetics didn’t suit her highly sensitive skin and she was desperate to find a remedy for her family‚Äôs eczema problems. In 2003, Margaret and her daughter Abi, founded a company together. Their philosophy is simple:

All ingredients should provide a positive therapeutic value as well as making the product a joy to use. And as Margaret explains: “Scientific studies into natural plant actives are now confirming my lifelong belief that carefully chosen natural plant ingredients produce outstanding results not only for health but beauty as well, particularly for sensitive and ageing skin.” Odylique is 100% natural and certified to Soil Association organic standards. It is a truly hypoallergenic range that is free from common allergen tree nut oils, soy, wheat or dairy (as well as parabens, petrochemical and sulphates).

Odylique kindly sent me samples of their Ultra Rich Balm, Avocado 24-Hour Replenishing Cream and Superfruit Concentrate to try.

Avocado Replenishing Cream

Superfruit Concentrate

I held off starting to use the products until I returned from our trip to the UK in April, adding new moisturisers on top of travel sensitive skin didn’t appeal!

But, I’ve been using them since and I love them.

If, like me, you are used to using hypoallergenic, fragrance-free creams, you may find the scent of these products quite strong to begin with. I did, but very quickly grew to like the smell of the natural ingredients, and it was rather nice to have more of a connection to what I was putting on my skin.

The Ultra Rich Balm can be used on face and body, even dry ends of your hair (although I haven’t tried this). I have found it particularly good at getting my poor winter ravaged feet flip flop ready now that summer has well and truly arrived!

The Replenishing Cream is a rich face cream, that is surprisingly light in texture and is absorbed really quickly. I have been using this as a night cream and it has left my skin feeling soft, calm and refreshed.

The Superfruit Concentrate has been the surprise star though. It’s fabulous! I often get small breakouts on my face; from tiredness, stress, environment, pollen. Any change around me can cause my skin to flare up. The concentrate is magic, if I use it on a patch of dry skin or slight rash, it disappears within a day or so. Nothing I have ever used before has been this effective at healing my skin. This is now a must-have part of my skincare regime!

Odylique have recently launched their full range in the US and are kindly offering one of my readers (residents of US/Canada only) an Odylique Selection Box, containing seven trial sizes of their most popular skin, body and hair care products. 1. Ooh you’ve really sold that to me – darn Atlantic Ocean getting in the way!! I think this branch into reviewing fits really nicely with the overall feel of your blog too Sara (sorry, you may have done reviews before!). I know we were discussing this at BML and I think your trademark of categorising your blog titles really works in this respect. X

    1. Thank you Sam, that means a lot. I hoped that it fitted well, but it’s tricky to know if you’ve pitched it right!

  2. I would love to try the The Ultra Rich Balm. Love that is has many uses!

Just a heads up that your Pinterest and Instagram links in the Rafflecopter form aren’t working. I had to edit the links to be able to visit them. ;)

  3. I’m very picky about what I put on my face too, but you’ve convinced me! Would love to try these products! Thanks for sharing, Sara!

  4. I’m an exfoliating fiend so the Coconut Candy Scrub would most definitely be my pick! Thank you for the chance to win this lovely package.

  5. 24 hour avocado replenishing cream sounds great, my skin gets so dry and this would help take care of this skin issue. i like that it sounds like a very natural product and effective.
