Kids, I need photos for Siblings. Please stand still. One minute, I promise. No, really, just one minute. But please, stand still.
And every month, this happens.
It’s hilariously frustrating.
But, each month I look at the photos and I smile. Because these kids are amazing and funny and such good friends.
This month has been incredibly busy; Scout events, classes, swim meets, projects, school events; it has flown by. I’m painfully aware of time passing, far too quickly, and taking a moment to enjoy the here and now has become a priority.
As Gretchen Rubin says;
The days are long, but the years are short.
We seem to have settled into a better routine and the bickering that was so prevalent last month has eased a little. Not completely of course, that would be up there with flying pigs and rainbow unicorns.
But life has definitely been calmer, and a lot quieter.
Long may it continue.
And, long may these three have this much fun together!
Each month, I wonder at how they’ve changed. Each small shift in their dynamic is fascinating to me, and although month to month the changes are often small, insignificant even, when looked at over the course of several months it seems that they are taking great leaps.
At times the age difference between them is stark in it’s size, their current likes and capabilities seeming at odds with them ever finding common ground. But, they do. They meet in the middle, and watching them curled up on the sofa or building mazes for hexbugs or creating wonderfully elaborate and imaginative games, makes me very proud.
They are very lucky to have each other.
And, occasionally, they stand still for a photo.
