Siblings: January 2016

Siblings: January 2016

It’s been an unsettled start to the year for the three. Their dad has been away a lot and they miss him. With normal routine already disturbed by vacation and then the return to school, this absence has contributed to a strange mix of bickering and kindness.

The holidays were fun, lots of chilled afternoons watching movies and playing games. Santa gave each of them a new card game in their stockings and these were a huge hit. It was great to watch them play together, and interesting to see the wee girl coming in to her own and giving her brothers a good run for their money. She’ll be beating them in no time. Largely because she is by far the most competitive!

The vacation also saw them all becoming more independent. Taking over some tasks that they would normally expect me to do, and working together to get them done. Hopefully this trend will continue…

As always, getting a few photos was fun. Excitement over a first lost tooth for the 6yo giving us our first opportunity for a quick milestone moment capture!

Swiftly followed by 80’s day at the boys school! These photos were meant to be just the boys. The wee girl had other ideas, never one to be left out!

It has been a month of contradictions. Intense bickering caused by too much time together mixed with moments of such kindness; banding together in a common understanding that they all miss their dad.

They have a wonderful bond. It can be seen in everything they do; from reading bedtime stories to each other to organising snacks together, from playing elaborate games to snuggling under a blanket watching a movie.

I couldn’t be more proud.

  1. Oh Sara this is lovely. Stunning shots but also lovely to read about their bond and how they are coming together when they miss their dad. Love that they are working together and being more independent of you too.. Yay you absolutely deserve to be very proud of your gorgeous three! Xx
