My Family: February 2017

February has been a wonderful month. Lots of good things going on: swim meets and time trials, birthday parties and movie nights, winter and spring! And, our February vacation-staycation was just what we all needed.

We had snow. A LOT of snow! The kids had a blast, and enjoyed several snow days the week before vacation. It was almost as if we had two February vacations this year.

My husband spent a week away on business and the kids and I took it easy and made it through the week. Well, I made it through the week. Which, when you chuck a couple of feet of snow into the equation is not as easy as it might be!

Vacation brought spring-like weather and we had a wonderful week enjoying the sunshine, even managing a picnic. We saw the Lego Batman movie, ate out and went to the Museum of Science. We saw friends and relaxed. It was a good week.

And now we find ourselves at the end of another month!

The kids have been great, having lots of fun together. They even made it through snow days and vacation without too many fights… Although when they do fight, wow!

My eldest has had an exciting month of swimming, qualifying for District Championships and then going on to qualify for the New England Championships too. So proud of him!

The 7yo has been playing basketball, enjoying soccer skills classes and moved up to pre-team swim classes. Whether he’ll follow his brother on to the swim team remains to be seen; he wants to try everything at the moment and there are only so many hours in the week. I’m not sure the solitary nature of swimming would suit him in the long run!

The wee girl continues to surprise me, growing up a little more every day. Tomorrow I will finish registering her for Kindergarten. Time is certainly moving on.

All three of them have shot up, especially the 10yo, and as a threesome they now sometimes seem so independent and self-sufficient, helping each other out, not needing me as much. It’s wonderful and sad in equal measure. Bittersweet.

Here’s to more of the same in March, although perhaps less snow!

February seems to go by so quickly, and good to see you all getting through first bit of Spring sunshine.
Well done your eldest with his swimming.
Hope you have an equally fun March, watt with less snow!
