Well, I hope the weather has been better with you than it has been here… It’s felt distinctly fall like a couple of days over the past week.
I had planned to spend the week at the beach and the pool with my younger two while their brother was at camp, but it wasn’t to be! We managed one morning at our favourite local beach, Nahant, before the dark clouds rolled in, and made it home just before the rain started again.
It was a beautiful morning though, and the kids had a fantastic time, immediately making a friend and spending the next four hours building sandcastles and playing in the water.
But, our best day was Monday, when my husband and I surprised them with a day trip to Storyland! A lot of driving in one day (six hours!) and a very LONG day, but we had such fun. I don’t think we’ve ever had a day out with just the younger two. It was quite different to having the three, and although we missed their big brother, it was lovely to focus some time on them.
I’m now looking forward to a quieter week, for me, as all three kids are in camp. The two little ones at Lego Camp, and my eldest spending another week away after a call on Friday to ask if he could stay at camp rather than come home… I’m mainly feeling positive about that, he’s clearly having a good time, but I can’t help feeling a small pang that he wasn’t desperate to come home!
I am going to make the most of my few hours off each day to catch up in the house. And drink tea. In peace :)
Hope you’ve all had a lovely of week. Head over to my Instagram feed to see the rest of this week’s 365 photos…

Lego camp sounds like fun. I wanted N to go to holiday club for at least 1 week of the holidays, but the OH said no.
Hope the weather improves for you soon
aaahhh the typical parent guilt, child away having fun which is much nicer than them missing you and being miserable and wanting to come home , but you wish they would miss you. Lovely for him to get some him time.
Sounds like a good day put with the younger two.
Shame the weather cut your beach stay short

I love the idea of Lego camp. I can’t persuade my H to do any camps sadly. Most of the time I’m glad he wants to spend time with me, but I’d like a break now and again too.
That beach photo looks amazing!! Hadn’t heard of storyland before!
Lego camp sounds amazing! My kids would love that! The beach looks stunning!
lego camp sounds exciting, hope the two youngest ones enjoyed themselves
