Reflections: Week 50

I can’t believe it’s only a week until Christmas! December always flies past at a ridiculous pace.

I’m very much looking forward to the break over Christmas. The kids only get a week, but it’s much needed at this point and I plan to make the most of it. And by that I mean, everyone having a proper chance to chill out and catch up. No rushing around.

This week has been COLD. So cold.

It’s barely made it above freezing, which means that we still have patchy snow after last weekend’s storm. Well, it’s ice now really, but it doesn’t seem to be going anywhere! The brown/white mix isn’t quite as pretty as the fresh snow though.

I don’t mind the snow when it looks like this…

The last couple of weeks before Christmas get busy though, don’t they? Last week I had my book club pre-holiday gathering and a girls night, and this past week it was my husband’s office party. I can’t cope with all the late nights, I feel ancient!

My mother arrived this week too, which always marks the start of the run into Christmas. The kids are thrilled. I think they were more excited about her coming than Christmas itself!

She arrived with a new gorilla onesie for my 8yo, and he kindly passed his old gorilla to his sister.

If it was possible for her visit to be viewed more highly, it would be now.

Next week is a bit crazy with a winter concert and three holiday parties for the kids, but I’m on countdown now. Only five more days of school until I get to have the kids home. And honestly, I can’t wait.
