At last: the snow is melting; the pavements are clear of ice; the temperatures are sneaking above zero! The scooters have made a return :)
As soon as we started walking to school again the requests to take the scooters began. The 4yo is particularly keen on scooting, anywhere!
They’ve both been scooting long enough that their road sense is very good, I’m currently working on instilling the same sense with regard to driveways…
Scooting to school certainly makes the walk faster, there’s no dawdling at the back when on a scooter! Lots of exercise and fresh air, with mummy running along behind trying to keep up :)
I’m linking up with the wonderful Country Kids at Coombe Mill again this week. Click on the badge to see what everyone else has been up to and be inspired to get outside!

This made me smile as my kids scooters were also back out of the garage this week. They were so thrilled to be back on them. At last!
How funny! The boys were so pleased to be able to get them back out :)
Great to see the snow gone & the scooters out! Come on, spring!
Absolutely!
I recently got my son s small bike and this post remind me that he really do need helmet! I am glad too that spring is here and we will have more chance to explore the outside.
nice post.
#countrykids
Thank you! Yes, helmets are a must, and it’s good to get them aware of safety x
Your school run sounds rather like mine, except my eldest is on a bike and my littlest runs to keep up with her. I’m the fittest I’ve ever been! I can imagine how chuffed you must be to have the pavements back and no snow too :)
It’s wonderful Iona, to be able to walk with the buggy again! If I let my oldest ride his bike I really would be running the whole way :)
You need your own scooter. Driveway awareness is tricky. I think its because there is no change in level like there is for a road. I think I’m finally winning with my 6yo, but not totally convinced. Nice to see the snow on the retreat for you. #CountryKids
It is tricky, especially as most of the roads we scoot along are really quiet, no ‘practice’ with actual cars! We’re getting there… :)
It sounds like good exercise and fun for everyone! As you say no dawdling and happy children on the journey. Thanks for linking up and sharing with Country Kids.
Thanks Fiona, it’s good to be getting some outdoor exercise again :)
Hurray!!!! No more now and scooter is out. That’s amazing. Looks like you aren’t the only happy one about that too. Pictures look adorable. Roll On warmer temps for you all.
I think we’re all ready for some better weather now :)
Feels weird reading about how cold it is by you, would have liked some snow mind.
I’m still very impressed with their scooting skills as my 4 yr old still can’t get the hang of it. I have to run after the boys when they’re on their bikes mind.
They are pretty speedy! I have to jog to keep up :)
Scooters are great… all of my three boys have been are currently going through a scooter phase.. Summer loves to get on one also… I am planning to buy her first one next month.
My wee girl is desperate for a scooter too, but we’ve just bought her a balance bike… We’ll see how she gets on with that :)
And all that scooting around will certainly keep them warm too! Glad the sun is finally melting all that snow on your side of the world :) #CountryKids
It keeps me warm, running after them :)
My daughter loves to scoot to school as well. We seem to have missed the ice and snow this winter #blogclub
Scooters are fab! I could have sent you plenty of snow :)
I’m a little sad to see the snow disappearing but kids love to get out and about on their scooters which of course is so much easier without the snow #BlogClub
We’ve enjoyed the snow, but it’s time to move into Spring now :)
Lovely to see that the snow is finally leaving you. Scooting to school is just the best thing!
Oh yes, we love our scooters!
Glad the weather is better. Meg keeps asking for a scooter but I’ve never been convinced, although the idea of a walk to school where I don’t have to keep nagging her to hurry up sounds like a great thing! #blogclub
It certainly speeds things up :)
ronnies scooter pretty much goes everywhere with us, quite essential if you want to get anywhere any time quick!
Absolutely, it speeds up the school run no end :)
You must be so relieved! It’s nice to see some photos without the dreaded white stuff everywhere!
Absolutely :)
Glad to see the snow is finally melting :) Tell me about the exercise…I am running behind my wee man on the balance bike now!
We got the wee girl a balance bike for her birthday… I’ll be running after that soon too :)
I haven’t yet let my youngest loose on her scooter for the school run, I fear I would lose her so she is safely strapped in the pushchair, I am still teaching my eldest not to disappear so far ahead as I embarass myself yelling at her to stop and trying to run with a buggy in tow!
Ah, yes! I keep the youngest firmly strapped in the buggy :) And, I do a lot of shouting that the boys are getting too far ahead!
