Now that the weather is better (yay!) the wee girl and I spend close to an hour at the park each morning after dropping the boys to school.
She plays with her friends, I chat with mine. It’s a lovely start to the day.
Today, we stayed a little longer than others as we were heading straight to a play date (well, I was dropping the wee girl at friends house and having a few hours to myself!).
The wee girl has taken a liking to the big seat swing, insists on being strapped in (very safety conscious that girl…) and will spend ages happily swinging back and forth. I just need to give her a push every so often! Today, she decided to have a pretend nap, as you do.
She’s recently become tall enough to reach one of the lower monkey bars, so quite some time is spent swinging shouting look how strong I am mummy!
Then it was on to the slide. She has been trying to persuade me to slide with her all week. I have claimed to be too big, too old, too anything to get out of it. Today, we were alone. No potential for embarrassment or raised eyebrows, and I looked at her little pleeeease face and gave in.
We spent the next ten minutes having races, which of course she won; giggling hysterically. It was brilliant, and while I wouldn’t normally include these slightly blurry images (taking photos while racing is a bit tricky; I gave up quite quickly!) I just love her expressions and the fact that she is clearly trying to beat me :)
And, who could resist some silly selfies…
A few months ago (even if the ground hadn’t been knee deep in snow) I would have probably rushed away, keen to get started on errands and to squeeze in those elusive snatches of blogging time.
But, playing at the park is a lot more fun than errands :)
I’m linking up with the wonderful Country Kids at Coombe Mill, as always. Click on the badge to see what everyone else has been up to and be inspired to get outside!

Sara I cant believe the difference a couple of weeks makes, now you are in short sleeves, I want to live in the US. Its lovely to spend that time just having fun doesnt it? such a lovely post x
I know, the weather changes so quickly! We were at the outdoor pool yesterday :)
Hurrah! So glad to see the sunshine has been out for you, looks lovely :) I absolutely love your shoes – are they TOMS? x
They are TOMS, I have my sister to thank for them :)
What a lovely time at the park and those races look like fun…I love joining in and the kids love it too! X
It was great fun :)
Lets face it, we all have a crafty go on the slide and the swings when nobody is watching. ;)
Great pics. X
Lol! It was fun :)
Oh my just look at the two of you in those selfies, I can just see you both in a few years like Clio and me on girlie shopping trips together and coffee shops. It’s lovely to see them grow and become your friend too. Those photos on the slide are the best for me, wee girl really is so happy running and racing along with you and well done managing to take photos at the same time! A lovely time to share together, cherish those mornings in the playground, they pass too quickly I now realise looking back! Thank you for joining me for Country Kids .
Oh, I do hope so Fiona, I’m going to miss these mornings when she starts preschool, but I’m looking forward to her days off :)
Love the selfies! And yes, playing in the park is much more fun. Oh, and I love your shoes too x
Thank you Iona (and the shoes are TOMS!) x
Haha well done on sliding, I haven’t done it in years!! Looks a lot of fun though :) And yay to proper now snowy sunshine!
Definitely yay to the sunshine!
I’m glad the weather has finally turned and you can enjoy getting out and about. Your mornings sound perfect. There’s nothing better than seeing little ones delight in the simple pleasures of the park. We can barely get Monkey out of one when he enters the gates! Love the selfies! x #CountryKids
Mornings are fun, I will miss them when she starts preschool, making the most of them now :)
Looks like you had fun. That swing looks huge – never seen anything like that. I have to say I avoid slides – mostly because my backside would get stuck in most!
I have to admit I was a little worried!
Nothing is more fun that parks! Errands can wait hehe. Love the last photo. #countrykids
Definitely!
I like the look of your playground – something a bit different in terms of swings and slides.
It’s a great playground, it’s actually the one attached to the boys school x
Looks like you both had fun!!!
Love your shoes by the way. I’ve never seen those kind of seats/swings before!
Great photos.
We did, it was great fun :)
She is so cute, gorgeous pictures! I am a bit jealous of how long her hair is! ;) x
Thank you! To be honest, I’m not sure where the hair has come from! The boys had so little hair when they were small, and not only does she have loads, it’s curly!!
Lovely photos – can’t beat time in the park with the little ones. Totally in love with your shoes too!! Assume you got them in America?
Thank you, and absolutely. I did get them in the US, they’re TOMS, I’m sure you must be able to get them somewhere in the UK…
Aww, she’s beautiful. I’m just going through the same with my youngest. I love when they become independent. Great post #countrykids
Thank you, it’s wonderful to watch isn’t it :)
Playing in the park is indeed fun and I have spent a lot more time doing it in the last couple of years. Lovely pictures of you together. Mich x #SharetheJoy
What a lovely idea to play at the park after school drop off! We have a park near the eldest’s school but I’m usually racing off somewhere – now I’m going to pick a nice day next week to do just this. Love your silly selfies too :) Thanks for linking up at #sharethejoy
What a lovely post! Sometimes it’s just nice to enjoy being with our children isn’t it? Good for you. Love the photos too. :)
