My gorgeous girl, you took a big step this week. In fact, we both did.
Preschool. So exciting. So much to learn and discover.
Your first day went well. You arrived with a spring in your step and a smile on your face. We were very proud of you.
I know you missed me, I missed you too.
You were tired. It was a long day for you, and it was hot. Really hot. You wanted me at rest time, but your teachers told me what a grown up girl you were, understanding that it would soon be time to go home and settling down for some quiet time.
You were so happy to see me at pick up, and I was so pleased to see you.
You told me about your day, gradually. At first you assured me you had done nothing, all day. Which made me realise just how grown up you are!
Slowly, details emerged. You had gone to the park and painted and played with play dough. You had listened to a story about a cat, with buttons.
You went back today, happy.
I’m relieved.
I know it will take you a little while to get used to this new routine. It’s going to take me a little while too.
When we moved to the US you were only a few months old. I look at you now, so grown up, and I wonder at where these past three years have gone. So fast, so busy, so fun.
I am very grateful that I have been able to spend my days with you, and for all that it has been hard work and exhausting, it has been a privilege to watch you grow.
I wish so much for you in this exciting new adventure of yours.

Ah, bless her she did great eh? My eldest starts pre school every morning next week. But, it’ll be a slightly different one for us as shes been in private daycare since age 1, so shes used to 10 hour days at nursery twice a week – this will be every day but 3 hour sessions. I hope she’ll love it. I’m going to miss our mornings together! x MMT #brilliantblogposts

How cute, glad she had a great day. What age do they start pre-school in the US ? Is it for half a day ? Interesting to hear how other countries differ x
In our city preschool starts at three. Some centres have a rolling admission from 2.9y but the school we chose follows the school year age requirements, so my daughter couldn’t start until the September after she turned three.
Lovely picture. These ones are always great to look back on their last day of school or when they turn 18. My little boy started pre-school last week and we too took a picture of his first day to capture the special moment.

A beautiful post. Not sure little man misses me at all at pre school. He didn’t even want to leave today!
She told me yesterday that she had missed me a bit, but hadn’t cried… She was so excited when she left, she’s settling in fine :) My boys never wanted to leave nursery…!
Aw! EJ started pre-school this week too although it wasn’t quite the same as he is going from being full time with his daddy monday mornings and his grandma wednesday afternoons to doing pre-school at those times instead. As such it isn’t as big a change for me as it is for him. Also he’s done really well I’m assured but I’m impressed that you got so much detail out of the wee girl – EJ never tells me anything he’s been doing and JJ never used to either (and still doesn’t!). Argh – they are growing up so fast!! Xx #loudandproud

Oh I’m so pleased that she seems to have settled in Sara. In my experience, it’s us mums for whom it takes the longest! Bless her she looks pretty chuffed with herself, no wonder you are #loudnproud :)
