I wrote about our first family camping trip last week and I mentioned that we had visited the most beautiful beach.
I have seen many photos of beaches on Cape Cod, but even so, I wasn’t prepared for the breathtaking view as we walked on to the sand at Saint’s Landing beach in the late afternoon sunshine.
We arrived, with our friends, at about 4pm. The beach was getting quieter and the sun was not quite as fierce. Perfect. The boys went straight into the water. The wee girl and I were not far behind.
I cannot tell you how incredible it was. The sea was crystal clear and being a bayside beach (in Brewster, located in the crook of the elbow of the Cape peninsula) it was calm and warm. I spent ages in the water with the wee girl over the course of the afternoon, who was thrilled to be swimming in the sea. She absolutely loved it, although clearly I have no photos of the joy on her face as I was in the water with her!
Of course, there was plenty of time for playing in the sand too.
The wee girl does love to dig!
We had great fun burying the children, although this did result in a few face fulls of sand…
But swimming, that was definitely the highlight.
I love the beach, but until this summer I have preferred to walk along a windswept beach in my wellies; breathing in the smell of the sea while avoiding sand in places I don’t want sand.
However, having spent quite a bit of time with my children on the beach this year, I have been converted. Somehow the joy on my children’s faces has cancelled out the irritation of sand in my swimsuit.
And with views like this, I’m not at all surprised.
I’m linking up with the wonderful Country Kids at Coombe Mill, as always. Click on the badge to see what everyone else has been up to and be inspired to get outside!

Just too beautiful. Your last image is stunning. We visited Cape Cod in October so not quite the warm seas, but still stunning xx
Thank you, it really was amazing x
Such a beautiful beach and looks like you all had a wonderful time there. I love the photos of your boys having fun in the water :-)
It was lovely, and the kids all loved being in the water x
Such a gorgeous beach and oh my gosh….the water! So clear! Looks like everyone really enjoyed themselves
It really was amazing, the water was fab!
It does look beautiful. I’m definitely a sand between the toes type of girl although I’d happily keep it away from food, the rest of the body, clothes and shoes given the choice.
Ha, yeah, I’m slowly starting to accept it getting where I’d rather it didn’t :)
Stunning photos and what a beautiful beach and I bet the sea is warmer there than it is here! Like you I love the beach all year but I think summer tops it for me, what a perfect day to enjoy as part of your camping trip. Thank you for sharing with me on Country Kids.
It was just fabulous, a real highlight. We have beautiful beaches near us, but this one was wonderful as it was more sheltered and the sea was lovely x
What an absolutely stunning beach, those waters really are crystal clear. Fabulous #countrykids
It really was stunning!
Beautiful photos. Children always bring another dimensional to everything. Before children, I couldn’t understand days sitting on the sand. Water sports and coastal walks – yes, but putting up a windbreak and staying at one spot, just wasn’t my kind of thing. Since children, I can see how they can spend hours digging and splashing in the water. Wonder if I’ll revert once they’ve left home….#CountryKids
Yes, I wonder. Although, since the kids all started back at school I’ve been tempted to go on my own… Never thought I’d say that :)
I agree the sand can be a bit of a pain, but there is something about the feel of it between my toes & it does a great exfoliating job.
That is very true :)
Love the buried in sand pictures, despite all the hassle :) My uncle and aunt have a private beach at the Cape-your photo’s reminded me very much of their beach. Absolutely amazing.
Oh wow, you have to visit them (and invite me :)), how fabulous!
How gorgeous – I can hardly believe how clear the water is. #countrykids
It really was beautiful x
Just beautiful and who doesn’t like digging. Brewster is going to be mighty impressed to find he has own beach too!
Lol :) There always has to be digging!
Ohh beautiful pictures!! Looks lovely there! I like how shallow the sea is so the children can play safely! #whatsthestory
Thank you, the sea was beautiful and perfect for swimming x
Beautiful photos and memeories behind them. Your little boy buried in the sand made me giggle ;) Just like something we would do #Whatsthestory
It was a lot of fun, and a highlight of our short break x
Amazing photographs. The sea looks so clear and calm! :) #whatsthestory
Thank you, it was beautiful x
Sara that looks amazing! I’ve heard of Cape cod obviously but wow it does look lovely and sounds like you had a wonderful day there. Seeing our children’s smiles definitely helps us put up with things we wouldn’t normally like doesn’t it? Xx
It really does :)
Beautiful photographs! I love visiting the beach and you’ve chosen to visit a spectacular one, look at the colour and clarity of that water! You can’t beat a great day out at the beach together. I know how you feel about the sand too, but seeing how happy the kids are definitely makes you want to do cope with just about anything for them doesn’t it?
A gorgeous post, thanks so much for linking up to #Whatevertheweather :) x
It really does, I have become much more relaxed about sand, and the beach is a wonderful place to spend the day :)
I want to be there right now!! What a beautiful place. My kids can never resist being buried in the sand either, although their dad is probably the keenest volunteer ;)
I would love to go back :)
Oh my gosh Sara, what stunning pictures. Such a beautiful place to visit. I live by the sea and we get very blue waters that look like they’re somewhere exotic but they’re never as clear and sparkly as this (or that warm haha) it looks like you had an incredible time swimming and playing in the sand. This brings back so many childhood memories of us burying each other in the sand and splashing in the waves. :-D Thank you so much for linking this to #whatevertheweather. x
