The Prompt: Ink

THE PROMPT 88

A pen
filled with possibility
from which potential flows
creates the pattern
of a life.

A dot
insignificant yet magical
leads to another
and another
until a multitude of dots
become the lines
of a life.

A character
inscribed in hope
etched in promise
captivates
and inspires those around
to build the dream
of a life.

A sketch
flourishes and grows
envelopes one
then more
until a painting exists
that illustrates the meaning
of a life.

A figure,
full of passion
brimming with integrity
and purpose
that sparks and burns
in all who touch
on its life.

A signature
is left, indelible
in ink that never fades
on lives touched
and loves lost
as time is stolen
from a life.

A mark
remains, permanent
in ink that endures
leaving hearts broken
but lives enriched
as goodbyes are said
to a life.

A pen
filled with memories
from which reminders flow
creates the imprint
of a life.

  1. I love how you describe facets of an ink’s purpose here. Some are small, some are big, but all are significant. It’s quite thought-provoking as Jo mentioned above. The cadence is lovely as well. I like how the words flow with a rhythm. Another lovely piece of work, Sara. Thanks for sharing and hosting us today :) Have a fantastic weekend!

Thank you, it was one of those ones that kind of wrote itself, I’m glad you liked it x

Ah, thank you so much Tracy, that’s a really lovely thing to say. A book, gosh, that’s a thought!
