My week that was [21]

My week that was

It has done very little other than rain this week, but we still seem to have been rather busy!

Monday
The wee girl and I had swimming in the morning. She was quite clingy today, so not quite so much enthusiastic splashing! In the afternoon I set the tuff spot up with some messy/sensory play for the 4yo – he had a ball!

Tuesday
I had a quiet morning, it was wet and miserable and the wee girl was developing a bit of a cough and a fever. She ended up sleeping for quite a bit of the morning. It brightened up at lunchtime, and as the 6yo had Garden Club, I took the 4yo out for a treat at Starbucks (this was also to make up for the fact that his play date was cancelled as his friend was ill). He then helped me with the shopping, which was hysterical – a 4yo running around the fruit and veg excitedly exclaiming ‘look, broccoli!’…

Wednesday
Another quiet morning as the wee girl was getting worse. I had to pop her in the Ergo and carry her for the school run as she was just sitting, sobbing! She dozed off on the school run, woke when we got home, fell asleep again at home in the buggy, woke and then promptly fell asleep on me… Thankfully I had the TV remote and my phone within reach! At this point I cancelled our music class and rearranged for later in the week! She had another nap before we went and picked up the boys! The 6yo had a friend round for a play date, so that took care of the afternoon! In the evening we had Open House at the 4yo’s school, so he got to show us around his classroom, show off his work etc. He loved it – and it was really nice for him to be able to show his big brother his school.

Thursday
The morning followed exactly the same pattern as Wednesday… A very unproductive few days for me! My neighbour kindly came over in the afternoon so that I could leave the wee girl at home. It was a little brighter in the afternoon, so the boys spent an hour or so in the garden playing with our neighbour. The 6yo managed to get a ball game stuck in the tree, hubby managed to get a broom stuck in the tree trying to retrieve it…before managing to get them both down with a rake!

The evening found us at the 6yo’s Open House! He also loved being able to show his brother around his classroom, and show me and hubby his work. They also had an ‘ice cream social’ so, bowls of ice cream all round before we headed home!

Friday
At last, the wee girl started to recover, no sobbing and normal napping this morning! So, the wee girl, 4yo and I headed into town for breakfast, which was lovely. Then we did a quick shop – bread and milk! – before heading home. The 4yo had asked to do some baking, so we made chocolate chip muffins.

Then a friend and her two kids arrived for a play date – it was lovely, the wee girl went down for a nap and the other three disappeared upstairs, so we were able to have a proper natter over a cup of tea! In the afternoon the 4yo’s friend who had missed a play date on Tuesday came over. The 4yo loved having his school friend to play! They disappeared to his room for a bit, then they came downstairs and we did some art and craft, which was a big success. After a really busy day, I was very glad to sit down with a pizza, glass of wine and a movie!

Saturday
It was Memorial Day weekend this weekend, so a three day weekend for us. Saturday was fairly quiet – it rained all day! Swimming for the boys in the morning, make up music class for the wee girl and I. I went to the hairdressers in the afternoon (yay!). Got the kids down for an early night and hubby and I enjoyed fajitas, fizz and a movie!

Sunday
Hubby spent the morning catching up on some DIY projects… Then in the afternoon I took the boys to see Epic – the first time we’ve been to the cinema since we moved here! We then got a few more DIY things done and then collapsed for the evening. A lovely weekend!
