Since I began my blog there have been two events that were hugely influential to me.
They opened my eyes to the power of blogging and the wonderful community that exists.
They changed the way that I approach many things. My family, our time together, the activities that we do.
The encouraged me to make memories, not just record them.
They taught me that life is short and every moment is precious.
The tragic deaths of Kerry, who blogged at Multiple Mummy, and Matilda Mae, the daughter of Jennie who blogs at Edspire, touched many lives and their legacies are one of love and connection and family.
Sadly, I came to blogging too late to have know Kerry and her blog, but I have subsequently come to know many bloggers who were able to call her a friend and by extension I have been lucky enough to discover her blog. She ran a linky called Family Frolics, encouraging us to spend fun, quality time with our families.
This past year has been one of change for me. A time of settling into our new home in the US, of reevaluating and gaining perspective.
There have been tough moments but, above all else it has been fun: we have had many adventures; gone on walks, discovered lake swimming, played in the snow, gone to the beach, splashed in puddles and gone geo-caching; we have baked, crafted and played messily; we have been on holiday, spent quality time together and laughed; we have made new friends, built scarecrows and gone trick or treating; we have gone to museums and aquariums; we have scooted and cycled and swum; we have celebrated.
It has been an amazing year.
This post has been written in memory of Kerry, who died on 14 December 2012.

This is a blog hop!

Such lovely photos. Looks like you had an eventful, but relaxing year. It’s lovely that such tragic events in the blogging world have helped inspire you in this way.
Thanks Sarah, we’ve had a wonderful year.
A lovely post, i was the same as you and didn’t know about the sadness of the story with Kerry but recently saw the dedication video which made me cry so much.A lot of my friends are supportive of my blog but don’t quite get it, but I think the blogging world is lovely and can be so welcoming especially to a new blogger. Great post.
Thank you. It really has been an amazing, and eye opening year. The blogging community is fabulous xx

Thanks for writing this post to remember Kerry, apologies for the mammoth delay in commenting but life raced along at a ridiculous pace!
