This week sees my husband and I celebrate our ninth wedding anniversary. How time flies!

Our wedding day was exactly what we both wanted. A beautiful ceremony followed by a huge party! Above all, it was fun – for us and for everyone else – and that was our priority.
Dancing and drinking, music and merriment. Scottish, Irish, English, Australian… Friends and family from far and wide, brought together.
Enduring memories: a church full of song; a meal accompanied by a chorus of lively banter; wonderful speeches, thoughtful words, loved ones remembered; bad dancing and laughter; a ceilidh full of twirling and spinning, bruised arms and toes; smiling until faces hurt, chatting until voices went; throwing the bouquet and returning a favour; pure happiness.
And then: nine amazing years.
Fun and laughter; joy and wonder.
Working hard, working side by side.
Challenges faced, problems solved, opportunities taken.
Growing together, supporting each other.
Two becomes three, four then five.
A family completed.
Wedding: a commitment; a joining; a beginning; an end.
Marriage: a journey taken together; days full of excitement; a life of contentment; explosive moments followed by understanding; growing up and changing; accepting and forgiving; at best, compromise with grace; at worst, starting again tomorrow when we fail; no grudges, no sulking – at least, trying our best; making the most of every moment.
In sickness and in health, in exasperation and in calmness; in annoyance and in agreement; in sadness and in joy; in conflict and in peace.
Happy Anniversary sweetheart, love you always.
