I am blessed

I am blessed

When I first joined twitter last year I was a little skeptical. My husband’s main comment when he sees me checking in is still ‘so, what’s everyone had for lunch…’.

I’m sure, like everything, it depends how you use it – but I have found myself slowly becoming part of a wonderful (and completely unexpected) community of mums and dads, most of whom blog. It is an amazing collection of people, blogs, thoughts, advice, humour and encouragement. I was blown away last year by the support for Kerry @MultipleMummy and her family, and the genuine outpouring of grief when she died.

Over the weekend our community was rocked again. I don’t know this family. I didn’t follow Jennie on twitter or read her blog. Although I know it was only a matter of time before I stumbled upon her, based on who I do follow, I just wish that I had found her wonderful blog under different circumstances.

I thought long and hard about writing this post.

I have started and stopped several times.

Who am I to comment? How can I possibly do justice, express the grief, write a fitting tribute? Do I have any right to try? But, this family deserve our support. They deserve to know that our thoughts are with them.

On Saturday night their nine month old daughter passed away in her sleep. My heart breaks for them. It is your worst nightmare. I have no words. I cannot imagine what they are going through. I have joined the hundreds who are now following Jennie to show some small measure of support. To show that we are all thinking of her. I have cried. I have held my children close.

I will not pretend to know what to say. I will not try to find the right words. I ask instead that you read Jennie’s own words here: Dear Matilda Mae: The night we found you sleeping. This is a post that is so beautiful, so heartbreaking. It deserves to be read; it should be read.

I know that I am truly blessed by my children. They are everything to me. I cherish every moment. I am so very lucky.
