Another week, another birthday – the 3yo will now be referred to as the 4yo :)
Monday
Managed to persuade hubby that, after a trip to the ER, he really should take a day off work! So, he actually did and by the afternoon was feeling much better and had managed to eat something. I took my mum with me to the wee girls swimming class in the morning so that she could see the wee girl in action – she didn’t disappoint – lots of excited splashing and squealing! Once we’d picked the boys up from school we decided to take a quick run to Stone Zoo (a small, local zoo) as it was a lovely afternoon. Hubby was desperate for some fresh air by this point and we wanted to make the most of the sunshine. We had a lovely hour there, and then the heavens opened – we were all absolutely soaked!
Tuesday
My mum and I went to the Mall and had a wander round – didn’t buy much (in fact I didn’t buy anything!) – but we had a nice couple of hours, including a well deserved coffee break! After we got home we headed back out to do some food shopping and, more importantly, order the cake for the 3yo’s birthday party on Sunday!
Wednesday
As hubby needed the car (not quite recovered enough to cycle to work!) we had a quiet day at home. I caught up on the housework (in preparation for a houseful of people on Sunday).
Thursday
After I got the boys to school, my mum and I headed out to a different Mall (!) – this time I was more in the mood to shop, although I bought more for the kids than for myself :) I did pick up a gorgeous dress in Gap though, with 30% off. I do love a bargain!
Friday
We’d hoped for a nice day so that we could get out and about with the 3yo, as he isn’t in school on a Friday, but it was pretty miserable again, so we stuck close to home and had a relaxed day. The evening was spent wrapping presents…
Saturday
It was the (now!) 4yo’s birthday today! I made pancakes for breakfast, at the request of the 4yo – he had his with maple syrup while the 6yo had his with Nutella and scooshy cream (well, it was a birthday breakfast!). The boys then headed down to the 6yo’s school with their dad, to help out at the community clean up of the park, garden and field next to the school. I then picked them up and dropped them to swimming before going and picking up the 4yo’s birthday cake from a local bakery and then heading to the craft store to pick up a few more ‘prizes’ for the games at his party (on Sunday) and some supplies to get messy with the wee girl… I then picked the boys up from swimming, my mum and the wee girl from home, and we headed to Chuckie Cheese for lunch, again at the request of the 4yo… It is hell on earth, think soft play on steroids with games machines in addition to the token climbing frame in one corner… But the birthday boy enjoyed it! Then it was home for cake (which I had of course baked that morning in my usual organised fashion)! Whew! The boys collapsed into bed with a DVD and the adults just collapsed!
Sunday
The 4yo’s party was today. I had been quite stressed about this as not many kids from his class had rsvp’d… And then two had responded on Saturday to say yes! Nothing like a last minute addition. Sadly (a different) two then cancelled an hour before the party… But the 4yo had a fantastic time, as did the children who came – hubby did his usual fantastic children’s entertainer turn and everyone had a lot of fun – and lots of cake :) All in all it was a wonderful weekend and the 4yo had a fantastic birthday – post to follow…!
