So, we have now had our first experience of the ER! My husband was in Mexico City last week for business and despite doing all the right things – bottled water only, no draught beers, reasonably sensible on the food… (we won’t talk about the worms and ant eggs… but to be fair, he was ill before these!), he is ill.
He arrived on the Sunday evening and by the Monday night all was not well… He made it through the week, and the journey home (really don’t envy him that), but was showing no signs of improvement. In fact on Saturday night he got worse. So, on Sunday morning I insisted that we go the hospital. He hadn’t eaten anything for a couple of days at this point, and even drinking water was a struggle.
Thankfully, as my mum is staying we were able to leave the kids with her. Having never been to the ER here, we were a little nervous about the whole thing. How fast would be seen, how easy would it be to register, would it matter that we still haven’t sorted out a doctor for ourselves (!), how long would be there…?
We had nothing to worry about, it was really straightforward, we were seen straight away, everyone was very helpful and efficient. After some IV fluids, hubby was feeling a lot brighter. They let us go home with a prescription for antibiotics, strict instructions to register with a doctor (hubby is on the case as I write!) and the comfort of knowing that should we have a real emergency – especially with one of the kids – we will be in good hands.

Glad he’s ok, but agree {from when we lived in Australia} it’s good to Get an idea about ‘these things’! X
It is indeed – you always have that moment of panic when going somewhere like that for the first time! There were a couple of questions asked the hubby had to say ‘sorry, I have no idea what you mean’!!
I really don’t want to know about the worms and ant eggs! Glad all went well. We took luka to an our of hours dr in florida and were really inprwssed too. Glad your husband is on the mend :).xx
I have a photo…!?! And thank you, he’s definitely doing better today :)
Oh goodness! I’m glad it was nothing serious, and I’m glad you were seen quickly x
Thank you! He’s definitely on the mend now xx
