Another stupidly busy couple of weeks, so another double helping of ‘My week that was’!
Week 19
Monday
We had the wee girls swimming lesson in the morning. I grabbed a spot of lunch with two other mums and babies after that, which was lovely. We then spent time at the park with the boys after school.
Tuesday
I needed to get a spare car seat, so I headed out to the ‘big’ Target! While there I went a bit mad and came home with more furniture for the porch… Seats for the kids and an extra seat that matched the cushions I had already bought for the wicker seat… I love my front porch, it feels very American to sit out on the porch of an evening!
The afternoon was spent at a play date for the 4yo – it was the first one he’d had here, so I stayed, but he was absolutely fine, so he’s on his own the next time!
Wednesday
Headed to the wee girls music class in the morning – good fun as always! A fairly quiet day other than that! Thankfully the rain held off until late in the day when we had some spectacular thunder and lightening. Today we received a very entertaining ‘persuasive’ letter from the 6yo…
Thursday
We had a friend of the 6yo’s over for a play date in the afternoon (hence the need for a spare car seat). It was a pretty miserable day, some good thunder storms again!
Friday
A friend came over with her kids for the morning, which was great! Hubby arrived home at lunchtime so that I could go and read to my 6yo’s First Grade class. I read them a Horrid Henry short story – and apart from one ‘are there any pictures…?’, it seemed to go down well! It was a lovely day, so in the afternoon I set up the tuff spot outside and filled it with water and coloured bubbles.
Saturday
While the boys were at their swimming lessons in the morning I had an hour to myself and went to Starbucks for a tea and some blogging time! In the afternoon we walked our own Mile in Memory of Matilda Mae. When we got back from this, the wee girl took her first solo steps!
Sunday
It was Mother’s Day here in the US, so after a quiet morning, we headed out for a lovely walk to Wrights Tower. It was a beautiful afternoon. Hubby then dropped me to Starbucks (again!) and I had an hour to myself. Hubby then made fajitas for all of us, which was fab!
Week 20
Monday
Wee girls swimming lesson in the morning and then a trip to the park after school!
Tuesday
I headed to a baby songs group at the library in the morning – great fun, the wee girl is just so confident now, she scooted off to to sit in front of the teachers. I stayed at the library with some of the other mums, chatting while the babies played in the children’s corner. I left when it was time for the wee girls nap.
Wednesday
The wee girl would appear to be getting nine teeth all once going from the state of her gums! By 10.00 she was ready for a nap, so I popped her in the buggy and left the house within about 5 minutes (!) and walked to her music class, letting her sleep on the way. She then took another nap in the afternoon, which is almost unheard of these days!
Thursday
A quick shopping trip in the morning, boring nappies and wipes! Another early nap from the wee girl, but she slept for two hours :) Headed to the park after school again. Hubby out straight from work – bowling – so I got the kids down really early and was sitting on the porch in the last of the sunshine before 7pm!
Friday
I took the 4yo and the wee girl to the park in the morning. The 4yo took his bike and the wee girl found herself plenty of toys to play with there. Her favourite was a walker.
When we got back from the park the 4yo and I made moon sand and later in the afternoon he spent an hour in the tuff spot playing with it!
Saturday
While the boys had their swimming lesson I headed to the craft store to get some supplies for the pink and purple messy play activity I have planned this week. I also got some baking supplies so that I could make biscuits and cupcakes to take to the friends barbecue, which we went to in the evening. A great night out!
Sunday
Shopping in the morning, a lovely picnic in the garden for lunch and then a quiet afternoon catching up in the house and on my blog! Hubby took the kids out for a couple of hours to let me run around and get some stuff done in peace and quiet! And, another weekend is over!

What a wonderful time you’ve been having over there, I like the idea of chilling on your porch! To see wee one walk must have been amazing :)
Thank you – we are really trying to make the most of our days! I do love my porch :)
