On Father’s Day we headed north from Massachusetts into New Hampshire, our first time out of State since we moved here!
We’ve been slow to venture too far from home as we have two car sicky children… we didn’t even make it to the airport back in February for our trip back home (a mere 20 minute drive) without both of them being sick – not a great start to a 12 hour journey! I guess it could be worse, it could be all three of them… Anyway, this incident (and the many other times) has seen us trying to limit car journeys to under half an hour where possible!
But, while there is an amazing amount to do within a 25 minute radius of our house, it is a bit limiting, so we decided to bite the bullet and attempt the hour long journey to Odiorne Point State Park.
We were very prepared! The wee girl went into the car in her PJs. There were two sets of extra clothes for both her and the 4yo packed. We had lots of baby wipes!
Sure enough, 34 minutes into the journey the wee girl was sick, then promptly fell asleep. Thankfully that was the only vomit incident of the trip. We got off quite lightly all things considered!
We arrived at the park and while we waited for the wee girl to wake up (and be cleaned up!) the boys had a snack. Then they found sticks. Where would we be without sticks?!
One of the reasons for coming to the park was to visit the Seacoast Science Center. We spent an enjoyable hour or so in there, which you can read about here.
We left the science centre just before lunch and headed to one of the many picnic tables. A meal of leftover pizza, sandwiches, crisps and juice went down well :) Once everyone was fed and energy levels restored we hit the park! The wee girl is getting more adventurous, and we have to keep a very close eye on her or she would be climbing ladders after brothers!
Next it was time to investigate the, rather windswept, beach. No sand this time, but lots of excellent stones to throw into the water. We failed to convince the 4yo that he would find good stones next to the water too and we had to stop to collect an armful as we walked to the shore :)
The boys had a great time throwing stones – although we did have to stop them from throwing sea snails…
Then it was back to the park before making our way back to the car. We stopped for a little snack of pineapple on the way, the wee girl would have eaten the lot given half a chance!

Aw Sara, look at her wee face in her daddy’s arms, it’s the best face ever. What a lovely fathers day you all had. I love how the beach isn’t jam packed and you have all that space to enjoy it without crowds. Your boys look like best buddies :)

Oh such a shame your little ones suffer so badly with car sickness but great it wasn’t too bad on this occasion. Sounds like the perfect day out. My boys love throwing stones at the seaside and go crazy for pineapple too :)
It is a real pain – the wee girl was sick on the way to the park yesterday – a 10 minute drive! But, hey ho, you can’t just stay at home :) The boys loved throwing stones, they’d have stayed there all afternoon! Thanks for reading xx

Absolutely – she was sick on a 10 minute drive to the park yesterday! But I refuse to be house (or buggy) bound, so I travel prepared :) the long trips are really only worth it for a good long day trip though! My boys had a great time with the stones :) Thanks for hosting xx

Oh, I hope they grow out of it soon :) I was always car sick, so I probably only have myself to blame! It was a lovely day out, really beautiful and the boys loved the stony beach.
