It came to my attention this week that the wee girl had never worn welly boots! This, of course, had to be rectified…
The weather since she learned to walk has been glorious, she has lived in sandals and crocs. On those days where the thunderstorms have driven us inside, it had not occurred to me to take her out to splash in the puddles.
After the unbelievable heat and humidity of last week, we have had a few of days of rain – and it was definitely time for the wee girl to get her first taste of splish sploshing in puddles.
She is no stranger to splashing, she adores water play, but what toddlerhood is complete without welly boots in puddles?
Her first outing was a little tentative.
Clompy wellies on tiny feet.
Unsteady steps.

But she quickly got the hang of these gorgeous welly boots, and a second day of rain found her running around, splashing with gusto :)

The boys have spent the week in a Lego Camp (absolutely brilliant, post to follow!), so the wee girl and I have enjoyed a quiet week, watching the rain and splashing in puddles.
I am linking up with the wonderful Coombe Mill’s Country Kids again this week. I hope everyone else has been enjoying the outdoors and having lots of fun. Click on the badge to see what everyone else has been up to!

Oooh Sara, what a gorgeous post, she is just utterly adorable and I love her funky boots. Splashing in puddles is loads of fun and your wee cherub certainly looks like she had a ball x
Oh, thank you! She did indeed :)
We love splashing in puddles too Thisdayilove
It’s great fun!
I get so so so much satisfaction from watching Aaron splash in puddles in his wellies.
I have been known to be VERY cross when he does it not in wellies though.
One day I will have to save up for Hunter wellies so that I can splash with him – after all I have been in the paddling pool with him.
Love that you can cherish these special moments. Nature can give us so much without spending a penny.
Liska xx
You’re so right – it’s these simple things that give us so much fun! I save also been known to be cross when the boys have gone puddle jumping in their shoes…!
Sarah she is such a beautiful little girl and I love the look on her face as she explores with her wellies. Looks like you really have had some downpours. Thank you for linking up to Country Kids.
Thank you – and tank you for hosting :)
One of the joys of a walk in the rain. Although the look on my children’s faces as toddlers when they forgot they weren’t wearing boots and jumped into puddles. Ow!
Ha! My boys do that all the time – they think it’s a great idea until they have cold, wet feet :)
So cute and she looks like she had a fantastic time.
She did! Thank you :)
Absolutely gorgeous :-) I love seeing her first tentative steps, and then seeing her becoming more confident and stompy!
It was lovely to watch – there’s no stopping her now :)
Once you have started there is no going back :)
Absolutely! She makes a beeline for all puddles now :)
Aww adorable!!
Splashing in puddles is just so much fun x
It is indeed!
i think her welly boots are a BIG success! i love seeing my two splash about in the puddles when they are wearing theirs and it makes for some great photos. she wont be able to pass by a puddle without the urge to jump in again now of course! x
She can’t – already! As soon as she sees one, she’s off!
How wonderful, she looks like she’s having a great time. Nothing better! #CountryKids
Thank you – she loved it!
what a cute pair of wellies. I remember when 6yo was small and wore her wellies for the first time
I love the wellies – much cuter than the ones the boys had at that age :)
What a lovely thing to do. Ethan has just learnt how to jump in puddles, I think we should play this game more :0)
