Yesterday was Columbus Day here in the US and my husband had the day off work.
He very kindly took the kids for the morning and I had a much needed break, sitting in a cafe, catching up on blogs and chatting to the regulars :)
It was a beautiful day, so in the afternoon we took the kids to the park.
I have mentioned this park before, we go there quite a lot! In addition to the play park, with swings etc. there is a large playground full of ride-on and push-along toys. This is where the wee girl really found her running feet, going from one walker to another! The boys love to bring their scooters and bikes and zoom along the ‘road’ that loops around the playground. The City provide the toys, and they are there from Spring through to late Autumn. It’s a wonderful resource for the community, and it was being well used yesterday on what was a gorgeously sunny, mild day.

It’s fantastic and all three love it!

Yesterday the big ride-ons were the favourites! The wee girl is quite insistent on always being behind the steering wheel, even if that means climbing over one of her brothers. The boys didn’t seem to mind and loved pushing her around.
She also likes mummy or daddy to sit next to her… We don’t really fit!
We also took the 7yo’s new kite, another (as yet unused!) birthday present. It wasn’t really windy enough, but there was a bit of a breeze which was enough to get the kite flying.
It’s going to be brilliant on a properly windy day!

We had a lovely day. It was relaxing and fun, which after a very busy couple of weeks was just what the doctor ordered.
I’m very grateful to my husband for the morning off! And, I’m very glad that we were able to make the most of a beautiful, sunny afternoon.
A perfect end to our long weekend.

Such great outdoor fun! I wish there were ride on toys in our local parks too :) x
It is brilliant, such a great place for the kids – and easy for us too :)
Magical pictures. Thanks for sharing.
Oh, thank you :) It was a lovely afternoon x
Wow what fabulous photos Sara, looks like the most amazing afternoon. I love that the wee girl likes to take control of the steering, good lass. Great post :)
Thanks Charly! She is incredibly bossy – one of her new words is ‘away’ which can mean away, come here, move…

I love all the toys at the park, I doubt with our ‘youth’ of today things like this could be left at the park. It looks like you had a great family afternoon, and I bed the you time made it even better x
Oh, yes, the ‘me time’ definitely helped! But, we did have a really lovely afternoon x
