The wee girl has been able to climb up the stairs for months. Stair gates were installed some time ago!
Climbing up is the easy bit, it’s learning to come back down again (safely!) that’s tricky.
We started getting her to turn around and come down things backwards – getting off the sofa, the bed etc. But, ultimately, she needs to learn how to walk down the stairs.
As a starter, we’ve been encouraging her to bump down on her bum. We hadn’t realised she had this particular skill sussed until a couple of weekends ago when she managed to come down our back steps entirely on her own!
And, what does an achievement like that need – why, a bow of course :)

Ah, so sweet! Loving that bow at the end :-)
She does like to show off :)
Aww how adorable…..Loving the bow at the end x
She always has to say ta-da and take a bow :)
Cute! So fun you captured the moment!
Thank you – it was lucky :)
How sweet! It’s an important life skill isn’t it! We must show our little lady soon x
I know, terrifies me watching her but she needs to learn :)
Big steps for little legs. Well done wee girl!
Thanks! She was quite pleased with herself :)
Lovely photos. She is such a cutie. Love the little bow at the end too!
Thank you x She is also a huge show off :)
Aww what a lovely post. Just love the pictures, as you scroll down it’s like actually watching her bump down the stairs! She’s such a cutie xx
Thank you! We have more photos, I need to work out how to make them into a movie :)
Well done little lady and it certainly did deserve a bow!
Indeed :) She does like to make an entrance :)
Heart in the throat moments, but such a massive achievement for her – well done holding the camera instead of hovering! I’m always amazed by how these things suddenly seem to come into focus for them.
I know, it’s so hard to let them do it, but they need to learn… Heart stopping indeed x
How sweet is that! My toddler’s still a little afraid to use stairs, and maybe I’m more afraid than him!
It’s a heart stopping one! But, they need to learn to do it safely… I hate watching it!
Love it, they do like to show off their new skills when we aren’t expecting it don’t they?! I’m so glad she has mastered this new skill in the safe way. We just went straight for jumping down the stairs, both feet at a time!!!
Thanks for linking up with Small Steps Amazing Achievements :0)
x
Thank you – still a little nervous of letting her loose on a larger flight of stairs, but it’s a good start :) Thanks for hosting x
