Country Kids: enjoying the winter sunshine

Today was beautiful. A clear blue sky, cold and crisp, see your breath kind of a day.

We’ve spent quite a bit of it outside!

This morning we went for a walk through town, heading back over to see the friends we spent Thanksgiving with.

We had borrowed their wagon to get the boys home after dinner, and we wanted to return it. The boys had loved their ride home in it and were keen to have another trip! So, rather than put it in the car and drive over we popped them it, snuggled the wee girl up in the buggy, and walked.

After a visit with our friends (and a run around their garden) we went to have lunch with other friends! (We’ve had a wonderfully busy day!)

Lunch was followed by another lovely stroll around the Tufts University Campus, which has panoramic views over Boston along with some interesting sculptural features. Apparently, the students are allowed to vandalise the cannon, but nothing else. It is regularly still wet in the morning!

The day ended with a trip to the park. The fact that darkness was descending meant nothing to the kids, who were wrapped up and cosy and running around happily!

We certainly made the most of the day!

We arrived home with three tired, but happy, kids who, despite the cold, had spent half the day outside :)

These are the best kind of days.

As always I am linking up with the wonderful Coombe Mill’s Country Kids. Click on the badge to see what everyone else has been up to and be inspired to get outside!

  1. Sounds like a good long walk. Fascinated by the canon. Is it old or a replica? Quite enlightened to give somewhere for the students to express their artistic selves. When I was at Uni, there was an outside Henry Moore statue, which someone decided to repaint. It caused quite a commotion! #CountryKids

    1. Repainting a Henry Moore?! I can imagine! I googled it, and it’s apparently a replica, and the tradition is to paint it – it seems to get repainted most nights :) A bit of a rite of passage!

  2. Love that you still got out about in the cold! And how cool are they in their little wagon!! Wish we could get a bit of your cold weather at the moment. Looks like it was a beautiful family day out

Absolutely the best kind of days. That one looks brilliant, and lovely to see the sun shining through. That wagon looks loads of fun – I want to get one now!

  4. That cannon looks like the sort of feature my kids would always want to rush over and see too. Just the best sort of winter’s day, outdoors and busy all wrapped up. I bet they were all fast asleep in no time after their exciting day. That ride on does look like a fun way to travel! Lovely to see around where you live, thank you for sharing on Country Kids.

  5. you do live i a lovely part of America – not that i have ever been but the history of the buildings in Boston are great arent they? And that wagon on the die walks is so typically american too – and what fun, my two boys would have loved that journey. looks like you made the most of the late autumn sunshine x x

I so much agree – something special about a day out seeing friends and outdoor time with the kids on top.

  7. I can almost smell the freshness of that crisp Boston air looking at these photos. Sounds like you got every second’s worth of enjoyment out of the day. Bravo!

  8. Look at the gorgeous light… and then the fall of dark. I like the way you followed the whole day. This was a very evocative series of pictures.
