Word of the Week: Defiance

Last Updated on

I struggled this week to choose my word.

It’s been an up and down week, one of extremes. But, which extreme should win? What is my overall view of the week?

I’ve gone from feeling hugely productive and organised, even energised to feeling completely overwhelmed by my to do list and my demanding and rather defiant 22mo. She has been hard work this week, pushing boundaries all over the place.

And pushing my buttons!

In fact, as I have been writing this, my word has become quite clear to me…

While she has been defiantly pushing me, I have been defiantly pushing back; with the mantra consistency is key, consistency is key on a loop in my head. In my better/stronger moments, I even manage to implement it!

  1. When I look back at my daughter at that age, I would say defiant (for only a percentage of the time thankfully) pretty much summed her up. Hope all is OK otherwise!

    1. Thankfully only a percentage here too, but goodness it feels like more than that sometimes! Having said that, I’d rather she had a strong, confident personality…!?!

Oh dear, a challenging week. I have many days and weeks like that! I love that your defiance is coming out, and you will remain on top – go you! Thanks for sharing with #WotW x

    1. I’ve had a few of those, often on the occasion of the third ‘stolen’ yogurt from the fridge being spilt on the floor… :)

  3. Great #WotW! I feel your pain, with two defiant minxes in our house, consistency has certainly been key for us. So difficult to maintain every single day, but so worth keeping on keeping on xx

    1. She’s definitely more defiant than the boys were! And, yes maintaining consistency is hard work, but worth it in the end :)
