It’s that time of year, when the nominations open for the MAD Blog Awards and the twitterverse and blogaverse (yes, I may have made those words up) are awash with hands waving in a vote for me kind of a way.
For those of you who read my blog and aren’t bloggers (and there are a fair few of you!), and are wondering why a brightly coloured box with ‘nominate now’ has appeared to the side of my blog (and what do with it… go on, click it!), the MADs are for the best UK Mum and Dad bloggers. They are a big deal!
There are so many fabulous blogs out there that I want to encourage everyone who reads this blog to go and nominate your favourites. Bloggers and non-bloggers alike, if you love what someone writes, if it speaks to you, inspires you, makes you laugh, makes you cry – nominate!
It will mean the world to them.
This blogging lark is wonderful; it’s fun, it’s exciting, it’s inspiring. But, it’s blooming hard work! A lot of great people deserve a little bit of recognition.
I’m going to take some time over my nominations, it’s going to be incredibly tough to choose just one blog in each category. If you’re looking for some inspiration here are just a few ideas:
There are the wonderful writers, like White feathers and so much more… who writes stories that give me goosebumps and always leave me wanting more (write a book E!), or All at Sea whose writing has ignited an unexpected love for poetry. Or perhaps Edpsire, who has moved and inspired me or Premmeditations, who never fails to amaze me with her strength. Then there is the fabulous photography over at apartyofseven or TheBoyandMe, teaching me and challenging my own photography. And, of course there is Coombemill, who has been instrumental in getting me and the kids outside at every available opportunity. The fabulous The Reading Residence is one of the busiest bloggers I know, I am in awe of her time management, and of course her lovely blog! Mummy Daddy Me reminds me to record the extraordinary ordinary moments, I have to remember not to read Mum of Three World’s posts about her kids sporting achievements when I’m in a cafe on my own as they make me cry (good tears I might add!) and I have to mention my blog crush, Mammasaurus, simply a beautiful blog.
I could go on!
My little blog is not going to win awards, although I won’t lie: a nomination in any of the categories I fall into would be the most amazing thing ever. Apparently last year over 150,000 nominations and votes were cast over the course of the voting process, so that’s pretty good odds for at least one vote, don’t you think? Go on mum!
I’m going to find it hard to choose who to nominate, but I will be nominating and voting because these awards mean a lot to all the bloggers who work very hard at keeping their blogs fun, interesting, topical, informative and entertaining.

I couldn’t bring myself to do the whole ‘vote for me’ thing (although I thought a little mention was ok) and to be honest I’m more interested in seeing my favourite blogs get a vote!
