I rush
too busy
too distracted
to notice the beauty of a dawn
then,
I stop.
I close my eyes and breathe,
I feel the warmth of the sun.
Welcome the joy of renewal
and,
I am aware.
I hurry
too hasty
too careless
to notice the elegance of a season
then,
I stop.
I close my eyes and breathe,
I accept the need for transformation
Appreciate the wonder of change
and,
I am present.
I race
too fast
too thoughtless
to notice the touch of a hand
then,
I stop.
I close my eyes and breathe,
I hear the laughter of a friend
Treasure the blessing of love
and,
I am enriched.
I dash
too harried
too absent
to notice the grace of a life
then,
I stop.
I close my eyes and breathe,
I gain the gift of perspective
Understand the comfort of memory
and,
I am grateful.

Ahhh hon, stopping still to appreciate what we have every now and then is so essential, but can be difficult to do in the mix of life. Hope all’s going well with the house renovation. Have a lovely weekend x
Lovely poem and reminder to stop and enjoy what we see.
Gorgeous poem Sara and even more poignant knowing about the loss of your friend. I do think it’s important to stop, notice the beauty of the world around us and appreciate what we have. xxx
Beautiful! We all need to stop and breathe and this is a great reminder to do so. X
A great reminder to pause once in a while and appreciate everything that we have x
I think many of us can relate to this; rushing through life and suddenly stopping and seeing the beauty in the world, or the things we have to be thankful for.
A beautiful description of mindfulness, Sara. Taking a moment to appreciate what is around us is a lovely thing to do – and especially good when we are feeling stressed xxx #theprompt
What a lovely piece. You really do need to stop and appreciate what is about you and what you have don’t you. I tried to do this, this month. xx
Beautiful Sara :) x
Oh Sara I see myself in these lovely words, I need to stop and close my eyes and breath more!
I love this poem. I have just written a post about gratitude…it’s something I’m trying to tune into more in my life. Very hard to do at times, but I do try and focus on the things I’m grateful for, even if they seem like very small things…
I so love the way you write. I was breathless reading it, such beautiful words, and a reminder to stop sometimes xx
I love the repetition you use in each verse to emphasise the need to pause and take stock of our surroundings. How lucky we are really in world terms. Thanks for sharing X
This is so well written – I love the short lines at the beginning of the verse and then the way they elongate to help slow down the pace. Really well done. Thank you for linking to Prose for Thought x
