Siblings: July 2016

We’re four weeks into the summer holidays already! It’s been great so far, and the kids have been having a blast.

We’ve spent days at the pool and the beach, been camping and canoeing. And, we’ve had lots of chilled days just playing in the garden. Our bucket list is covered in stickers already!

The three have amazed me at times, playing so independently together. I’m often told to go away, they don’t need me. I’m largely positive about this change!

Lots of imaginative games, lots of fun and lots of laughter.

I had worried that the intensity of vacation would leave them irritated with each other, and there have been moments, but on the whole they have been enjoying spending time together.

Fingers crossed it continues for the rest of the summer!

The 10yo has taken to making breakfast for himself and his siblings. It’s become his thing. I’ve loved seeing him take responsibility, unprompted. And I’ve loved seeing his little smile of pleasure when I say thank you.

The wee girl still leads in the imaginative play stakes. But it’s quite wonderful to watch her sweep the boys along with her. The 7yo in particular will get fully immersed in whatever world she has created. The 10yo smiles and nods!

The 10yo still needs to escape every so often, but he continues to be a wonderful big brother.

Our monthly photo shoot followed its usual pattern. Took a few attempts to get a rather grumpy girl to smile so that I could get that one, all-smiling, shot! As for the rest, well I’ll let the photos tell that story :)

Whatever kind of day we might be having, they never fail to make me smile. Love them!
