We’re three weeks into summer vacation and so far, it’s been wonderful! Lots of lazy summer days, enjoying the sunshine and going where the mood takes us.
We’ve been to the pool, the beach, the lake. We’ve taken walks, played in the garden and enjoyed picnics. Our summer bucket list is looking good, full of simple fun. And, we’re doing a good job ticking things off.
The bikes have been out, bubbles have been blown and lots of ice cream has been eaten!
After a wonderful month long visit, my mother returned home and then, my eldest left for summer camp. A first for him, and us. But, I have no doubt that he will have the best time. We’ll all miss him though!
Looking back over the last couple of weeks we’ve done some old favorites, and tried some new places. Swimming in the lake at Breakheart reservation is always a must for us in the summer, and we finally tried a local ice cream place that we’ve driven past hundreds of times without stopping!

HAPPINESS: This little girl just loves being in the water, watching her play and hunt for fish in the lake was such a pleasure.

TREAT: A final treat before Granny heads home, ice cream for all, sitting in the sunshine. Hard to beat.
We also took a trip back to Mystic in Connecticut and had another fabulous couple of days, more to follow on that. And, we celebrated the 4th of July, with the younger two joining in with the local parade.
This coming week, with the eldest away at camp, I’ll be enjoying time with just two. I’m looking forward to it, although I suspect I will need to keep them busy to avoid the bickering. Two peas in a pod those two, wonderful and frustrating in equal measure!
Wish me luck.
Hope you’ve all had a lovely couple of weeks. Head over to my Instagram feed to see the rest of this week’s 365 photos…
