Well, here we are almost two weeks into January and I’m still looking back to Christmas! Slow start to the year here.
But, we had such a wonderful Christmas, I can’t let it retreat into memory just yet.
Every year I promise myself that I will be more organized, that I won’t be buying random gifts the week before the big day itself, and that my husband and I won’t bicker our way through wrapping ALL the presents on Christmas Eve.
And, you know what, for the first time ever I managed it.
Probably won’t happen again, so I’m going to take a moment to give myself a virtual high five.
It’s amazing what a difference it made, to everyone, that I wasn’t a stressed out ball of grumpiness. But, probably not a surprise!
Christmas Eve was a relaxed affair, with the kids in bed nice and early, and the adults enjoying the quiet before the full-on excited noise of the next day.
I took very few photos of the present opening chaos on Christmas morning, I was enjoying watching it too much, and frankly we don’t need a hundred blurry photos of kids ripping off wrapping paper and jumping up and down!
I did however take photos of the snowstorm…
It was snowing lightly when we woke, or rather, when we were woken by our daughter jumping on us to tell us Santa had been, and, and, AND it was snowing. The snow got heavier as the morning went on, and was such a special, and exciting, back drop to present opening. A proper white Christmas.
And then it stopped, and the sun came out, and on went the snow gear.
We couldn’t have asked for a better way to spend Christmas Day. We had such a wonderful time, so much fun and laughter.
Presents were a success, food was fabulous, company was awesome, snow was amazing.
And, my daughter announced that all her Christmas wishes had come true. And that my friends is what it’s all about.

They are a way for me to record the moments, but not feel obliged to write War and Peace. Capture the days as they happen. No SEO, no pinnable images, no stress. How perfect would Christmas be surrounded by all that snow! It looks so wonderful right from present opening indoors to snow play outdoors and what a fun little slide your daughter has created there down the side of the house. I dream of watching my kids do this.

This, indeed, looks like the perfect Christmas day! Ours was just lovely, with a rain storm raging outside – this is Ireland after all!
Beautiful pictures, as always. Like you I tend to put the camera away on Christmas morning but my husband takes over filming the first few minutes of the present opening frenzy.
