This photo is an interior shot of one of the new parts of Kings Cross Station in London. When I left London ten years ago the refurbishment hadn’t started. Each time I have gone back since, another section of the Kings Cross St Pancras redevelopment has been completed, giving me a rather disjointed view of the overall project!
I love exposed structure like this, and railway stations often provide wonderful opportunities to photograph strong and expressive structural elements.
I published this photo as part of my 365 project with a simple black and white filter, the standard PicMonkey one, without any other tinkering. It was okay, but a bit flat. However, it was the first time one of my photos was ‘auto awesomed’ by Google! So, I took another look at it and I have tinkered with it a bit more this time, improving (I hope!) the contrast and definition of the structure.
I’m joining in with Week 1 of Charly’s Black and White Photography Project over on PODCast. I often play with black and white filters, and I love black and white photography. Looking forward to joining in with this project!
