Word of the Week: Progress

progress

Despite the dust and destruction in the house. Despite the mud and mess in the garden.

Despite the fact that we’ve had to move so much stuff around the house to avoid falling plaster, it currently looks like we just moved in again!

Despite all of that, I am feeling positive and productive because we have made progress!

The main part of the house is now fully (and safely) rewired. There may be a lot of holes to repair (a lot of holes!) but I no longer have any niggling worries about electrical fires or children shoving metal things into dodgy old sockets.

The electrician will be back to do the in-law apartment and laundry room shortly, but for now I am happy that we have finished a big job. A huge tick on our (very long) to-do list. And, now that I have sufficient light (thank you electrician!) to take some photos I’ll blog about this first house project next week :)

The back garden, well, it’s currently a big muddy hole! If you’d like to see some photos check out this post; the digging commences.

Suffice to say that there has been some excavation, some digging, and there is soon to be some jack hammering of rock… But, the landscapers have made great progress already and this project is going to make a huge difference to the back garden, and stop the garden draining in to our house…

A good week all round :)

How has your week been, what would your word of the week be?

  1. Wow! Having never even owned a house I’ve always looked upon those who take on massive projects like this with complete awe! Glad you’ve got light and are no longer worried about safety. Hopefully in a few months it’ll seem like a distant dream xxx

Oh, I hope it will be a few months, but I think it’s more likely to be a few years :)

  2. It’s the project to end all projects really isn’t it?! What a relief to have some light back! Looking forward to seeing the progress. X #wotw

  3. Well done – it’s moments like these that will keep you going over the coming months and you know it’ll be worth it in the end, but sometimes the getting there can be a bit tedious! Looking forward to following your progress :)

  4. Exciting times! These things, renovation and construction excites me and I know you are too! I saw the digging in your past post too. Goodluck with the future work and looking forward to the photos =) #wotw

  5. Oh I’m glad that you’ve come to a point where you can see progress being made – having your house and garden (at the same time!) being turned upside down can’t be easy! I hope you managed to have a little celebration to mark this progress!
    #WOTW xx
