Last week my husband was away.
The wee girl celebrated her birthday by falling and cutting her eye. We didn’t have all our usual activities and play dates. The 8yo had exams. The 5yo missed his daddy. It snowed. And rained.
It was a strange week.
But in lots of ways, it was lovely. We had a quiet time. The wee girl and I snuggled on the sofa. The children played beautifully together after school. We went to the library. We made popcorn and watched TV. We had early nights.
The kids helped out, behaved well and generally made life easy for me.
This photo sums up our week. Quiet, calm, together. Full of love.

Oh no! Bless her I hope her eye gets better soon. My eldest had a similar cut that happened in Hamley’s toy shop of all places. That is a beautiful picture, it feels quiet and calm. It makes such a difference when you are home alone and the little ones cooperate. I hope your weather cheers up soon x
It is one of those photos that I know will make me smile every time I look at it. Her eye is fine, although I suspect we have our first scar! The 5yo has one in exactly the same place, but other eye!
